DESCRIPTION
The steel cylinders are manufactured at Worthington Cylinder's state of the art facility in Tilbury, Canada. The cylinders are manufactured using the Deep Draw and Ironing (DDI) process. Cylinders start from a circular plate of chrome-moly steel. Multiple draws on a hydraulic press transform the plate into an open ended shell. The shell is then closed, the neck is formed and the threads are machined. The DDI process produces the most consistence wall thickness resulting in the lightest weight, most efficient cylinders. This manufacturing process is what allows us to supply cylinders with the best buoyancy characteristics for scuba diving.

During the process of Hot Dip Galvanizing, the exterior of our steel cylinders are submerged into 840°F molten zinc. The process deposits an 8 - 10 mil thick zinc barrier to protect against the corrosive ocean environment. This layer of zinc metallurgically bonds to the steel cylinder. It will not chip and wear away like a painted zinc finish. XS Scuba is so confident that exterior rust will not be an issue, we guarantee it for the life of the cylinder. If the exterior of your XS Scuba HDG steel cylinder rusts, we'll correct it for as long as you own the cylinder, without cost to you.

Steel Cylinder Features:

Manufacturing Process
Built from Chromium Molybdenum steel plates
Utilizes the deep drawn process; the preferred method to build a SCUBA steel cylinder
This process yields a cylinder with a very uniform wall thickness resulting in a lighter, more efficient cylinder.

Buoyancy
Superior buoyancy characteristics
These cylinders have been designed to be slightly negative at the end of a dive

Exterior Finish
A three-step, rust-preventative process
Consists of shotblasting, protective zinc coating, followed by a durable powder coat finish.

Interior Finish
Highly-resistant to internal rusting
Phosphatized interior

Nitrox Ready
Cleaned and sealed at the factory
Free of hydrocarbons to a level of 40 mg per square meter
Ready for pre-blended Nitrox up to 40% FO2

Comments about XS Scuba Worthington Cylinders HP Steel 3442 psi. Tanks:

This is a great, solidly constructed tank. I've already listed the pros and cons, and really this is not much more to say. It is solid, galvanized steel.....of course it is going to be heavy. Loved everything about this.

One complaint, as a Master Scuba Diver I did not love the color-coded valve XS uses with this system. It is two plastic disks, one red, one green. When the tank is green, it is fully open; any combo of the two and the valve is not fully open. Red, of course, should be self-explanatory. No experienced diver or Dive Master is going to rely on these disks to tell them if your tank is open. You check it yourself, every time you dive. The plastic is realistically a failure point, and something that I could see eventually causing the hand wheel to get stuck in whatever position the rings fail at. However, this is a minor worry, and since it comes free with the tank, I cannot really complain.

Excellent capacity. Only marginally larger than an AL80. A bit heavier-but you dont need the lead. Exceptional capacity! Great for longer dive times

Awesome tanks! Multiple dives per tank saves boat space. Negative bouancy characteristics are perfect for my dive profiles.

Great tank, awesome volume. I am 70'' (5'10") and the 120's are too long on my back. The 119 is perfect. Do not let people sway you from the galvanized tanks!!! The DOT has a new standard for galvanized tanks because the steel is fine. It's the Zinc coating that expands. Do your research on the process and what the DOT discovered when they mistakenly condemned good tanks. Valve also has great visual safety green/red indicator.

What can I say. It is a great tank, this is an addition to my first tank. I cold water dive, so the capacity is perfect for the dive time expected. I can get 45-50 minutes out of 80cf tank in 47degree water. I dive in Monterey, CA.
