DESCRIPTION

Whats in the box:Computer, Quick Disconnect HP Hose, Gauge Guard, Protective Bag

The Smart COM is an air-integrated computer that automatically calculates the diver's air requirements in order to make any required decompression stops and maintain a safe ascent rate. When the Uwatec people included "smart" in this dive computer's name, they weren't joking around - it monitors the diver's breathing rates and adjusts the decompression information accordingly. In addition, the Smart COM can accommodate air or Nitrox and it come standard with a Nitrox dive planner.

The Smart COM offers diver-controlled microbubble suppression, something that is sought after by professional divers. Plainly stated, this feature allows divers to use one of five bubble suppression levels to minimize the formation of bubbles in the diver's soft tissue after repetitive dives. This reduces the damage that can be sustained by soft tissue due to prolonged exposure to diving at depth.

Smart Com- For- Dumb Diver

I tend to get lazy with this computer, the information stored along with the software make it easy for someone to forget how to use an RDP or even a Wheel.

I am a Professional Dive Instructor and work for Dive Centres. I rely on my computer as I can do up to 4 dives in a day. The computer is easy to use, very visible and all the information necessary is readily to hand.Had one problem after a year of use with the battery still showing 85% left it locked up and would not go into normal mode after the dive. I needed to do a third dive and was unable to use the computer or access any information to be able to use tables. I had to cancel the third dive.I live in Mexico and the Scubapro dealer here would not deal with the warranty and I had to send it back to the USA [...] Unfortunately I have had to use a rental computer for 6 weeks while trying to rectify the problem. I have been using UWATEC computers for 18 years and have always enjoyed them in my line of work. This was just one of those electronic glitches, that unfortunately because of SCUBAPRO's policy about buying over the internet. [...]

Comments about Scubapro Uwatec Aladin Smart Com Air/Nitrox, Air Integrated Dive Computer Console:

This is an excellent computer while you're diving. But for as nice as it is in the water, it is that bad out of the water. The contact buttons need to be wet, so I find myself licking my fingers to navigate between settings and logs. It doesn't give you the date and time of the dive unless you download the dives. This can be a hassle if you're on a trip and want to log your dives before you get home. I have a backup computer on my wrist, that I use to log my dives with, and use this one during the dive.

Comments about Scubapro Uwatec Aladin Smart Com Air/Nitrox, Air Integrated Dive Computer Console:

I've used this computer for about six years now and it's been very reliable. The only issue I've had is with the battery replacement. I sent it in to Scuba Pro and after 4 weeks called to see where it was. They told me it would be another 4 weeks. I find this unacceptable and will be replacing it with another computer ( not Scuba Pro ) that has user replaceable batteries.
