Sevylor U233/ST6107 Pointer K1 Kayak

SKU: SLRK1K

DESCRIPTION
Pointer K1, as the name implies has a very pointed bow and stern and this, combined with 2 skegs, and a flat bottom construction makes for a great touring kayak. The boat tracks extremely well, better than any other inflatable kayak.

However, as all inflatable kayaks it can also be used on a fast flowing river.

Standard equipment is: luggage type storage/carry bag, white water spray cover with apron, large comfortable padded seat with backrest, rear cargo hatch with cover, bungee lacing for deck cargo, 4 tie-downs to secure top side cargo or spare paddle, a bow and stern lifting handle, a water bottle holder, 2 Boston valves and 1 jumbo valve, owner's manual, and maintenance kit

LOA - 10'
Beam - 2'8"
Weight - 28 lbs.
Pers. Cap. - 1
Max. Cap. - 300 lbs

Comments about Sevylor U233/ST6107 Pointer K1 Kayak:

Excellent boat for anybody that does not have the space for a fibre-glass kayak. This is my second season using this and my 3rd using the Sevylor Dive Yak and Dive Hunter. The only thing you have to watch is the pressure once you take the boat out of the water you have to deflate it. As for repacking the boat once you let the air out using the straws supplied it is quite easy.

Comments about Sevylor U233/ST6107 Pointer K1 Kayak:

The other review for this Kayak is off base. The included bit, that they couldn't understand where it went, is the support for the front deck. How and when to insert this is included in the manual.

The manual is a bit on the skimpy side with I think only 5 pages in English, but it does cover how to set up, tear down and use the kayak.

I just recently used this on a short 8 mile trip with a friend and love it. Since it was a holiday weekend, I was sharing the river with a lot of recreational traffic, everything from teenagers on jet skis to old fisherman. This handled the wakes and waves well without bending in the middle or ever getting any water inside.

The leg room is a bit limited if you are above average height. However if you like moving your legs around and not just straight out in front of you, then this may not be too much of a concern.

All in all, I found it to be agile and quick. Is it as good as a hard body, no, but then again the hard body wouldn't deflate and fit in my trunk.

If you buy one, do yourself a favor and grab the pressure guage as well. The first time I inflated it, I discovered that I had around 4 times the amount of pressure recommended by the manufacturer.

Comments about Sevylor U233/ST6107 Pointer K1 Kayak:

Much more tippy than standard kayak due to high center of gravity. Doesn't "track" at all. Each paddle stroke turns the boat about 90 degrees. Did not come with any instructions. Included a piece of (deck bracing?) that we have no idea of use or placement. fore deck sits right on your legs. Difficult to return to carrying bag. May be suited to light whitewater where maneuravability is more critical, but I'd still worry about the tippiness.
