DESCRIPTION

Whats in the box:External Digital Flash, Flash, Arm, Universal base for use with most digital housings, Flash Link Fiber Optic Cable and Deluxe soft carrying case

Finally a universal flash for all digital cameras*. Scuba divers know that a strobe is the most important accessory for sharp, colorful pictures. Water absorbs the red and yellow light spectrum, which results in blue pictures. The powerful SeaLife Digital Flash causes the intense colors of coral and fish to "explode".

* Works with digital cameras that have up to 4 pre-flashes.

FEATURES
  • Universal Underwater Flash for all digital cameras
  • 5 pre-flash cancellation settings for use with most digital cameras.
  • Variable brightness control for better image exposure.
  • Includes Flash Link optical cable connection

  • Flexible, rubberized arm for easy aiming and sure grip.

  • Depth rated to 200 feet (60m)
  • 20 Guide number
  • Includes a deluxe carrying case

    Essential equipment for underwater pics

This strobe is perfect for cameras/cases that do not have TTL connections. Great for bringing out the color. Moving the flash away from the lens reduces backscatter.

When I first set the strobe up, I had the delay set up per the instructions and the it worked just fine on the first dive. On the second dive, inexplicably, it decided it needed a different delay setting. It works fine now but it was a little frustrating. I've also had problems with overbending the handle with very slight pressure and the light connection between the camera and the strobe is very easy to pull out.

Comments about SeaLife SL960D Digital Flash:

Fairly good "cheap" strobe. Reasonable coverage. Two big problems:1: Boyant. I needed to add some lead weights to the battery compartment.2: The connectors for the batter are must flimsy spring metal and flatten out easily, causing failed connections. Prying the flattened connector up too many times caused the connector to break off. [...].

Comments about SeaLife SL960D Digital Flash:

Comes with an enormous, bright yellow, padded case which is large enough to fit the U/W camera housing I use. So that's really handy to keep all the camera gear together on a trip.

It takes some practice to use it well. But it's easy to setup (before you splash) and once setup, doesn't take much thought or effort to use. The flash-to-flash, and the on-to-flash time is a little slow. Don't expect to take action shots (who does underwater?). However, the strobe is quite powerful.

The adjustments you can make U/W can easily be done while wearing mittens. It's pretty rugged and doesn't take much to maintain it.
