Really easy to use. You do have to read and play with it before that great shot presents itself for the first time. dont try to be a cheapskate switch battery every day in the camera, dont try to use rechargable batteries in the flash they dont seem to power it as well and dont try to get two days of flash out of a set of batteries. Why screw up a week long dive trip over #30.00 worth of batteries? Next practice- astounding the flash only goes so far under water and you have to learn how far. You also have to have the flash pointed at the subject and it has to be in range- Duh- Oh and also it wont work if you forget to turn it on. Ge guess how I acquired so much information. First camera I purchased had a sliver of silicon behind the O ring totally un obvious at 80 ft a small leak started. not much but the camera was totaled. The company replaced everything no questions asked. not bad for what is arguably my screw up. bottom line check even when new and do that weight it and send it to the bottom of the pool for a trial test without the camera . same for the flash. Otherwise this has been money well spent. I shoot enough pictures and about 60% are quite good and about 30% are great. You just cant predict when the Angel fish is going to bolt and when it will stay there for you. You can spend more without getting better

The camera operated as advertised and was great for diving in Roatan. The Flash ate batteries pretty quickly (usually only got in two to two and a half dives before I had to swap them out)

Both U/W & land shots were both over & under exposed when using auto functions.Strobe often did not fire (1 in 3 times, it did NOT fire). Yes, batteries were new or re-charged.Strobe On/Off/Test switch was sticky & strobe typically would NOT turn on. To turn strobe on, 90% of the time, I had to tap, tap, tap the housing to get the red "activation" light to stay on.LCD turned milky white on open water shots. For example, if I took a pic of my buddy 6 or 10 feet away from him during our safety stop, the LCD turned to milk & the pic came out very average (often w/ lots of backscatter).Unfortunately, many of the pictures from my trip to the Maldives are forever lost. Shame on me for not diving this camera in our local pool or quarry before leaving on my trip for the Maldives. Unfortunately, given my work schedule, that was not possible.SeaLife should add an insert in the manuals suggesting you review the SeaLife webite FAQ's & "Great Pictures Made Easy". In addition, I'd reco reading Karin Brussaard review of DC1000 here:[@] read it AFTER I returned from my trip & regretted not reading before I left.

Delivery was prompt & product arrived in good condition.

LP service rep was polite, but essentially washed his hands of my problems & directed me straight to SeaLife. I did call SeaLife & their tech spt rep (Karl) was excellent, patient & very knowledgeable. Karl eval'd my situation & SeaLife plans to replace both the camera & strobe. I hope after SeaLife replaces the camera/strobe that I will be happy w/ my choice.
Not sure I'd purchase another camera or complex item like this from LP. Based on current situation, looks like I'll have to cover shipping costs of camera/strobe back to SeaLife. If I purchased from my local Dive shop, they'd cover shipping costs.

I was very happy with the performance of this camera. Video and photos are outstanding. Very easy to set for different types of settings. Just set to scene you want and the camera does the rest. Helps to take the guess work out of how to set the different levels for the scene you want.
