DESCRIPTION
Withstands high pressure - making it perfect for the office. The ATOM 2.0 is equally at home when worn with wetsuit or a three-piece suit. Don't be deceived by its small size -- this small format PDC powerhouse delivers all the bells and whistles you can imagine at the touch of a button.

Switch Between 3 Independent Wireless Transmitters The ATOM 2.0 Wristwatch PDC is a sophisticated Personal Dive Computer featuring Oceanic's wireless air integration technology. A transmitter threaded into the first stage high-pressure port continuously sends cylinder pressure data to the wristwatch. Frequencies are individually coded to allow multiple divers to swim side by side without interference with other units, as well as allow advanced divers to monitor up to 3 independent cylinders. Because the transmitter and display module are independent and separately powered units, the receiver may also be easily used as a stand alone, non-air integrated dive computer.

Buddy Pressure Check Transmitters may be programmed for "SELF" or "BUD" for Buddy - when programmed for "BUD" - the ATOM 2.0 will search for and display pressure for transmitters that are within range (4-6 feet).

Advanced Free Dive Mode The ATOM 2.0 provides accurate depth and time with an amazing 1-second sampling rate for subsequent PC download and analysis. Dive Time is displayed in seconds and minutes. Custom audible alarms include Elapsed Dive Time, Countdown Timer and (3) Independent Max Depth Alarms. The ATOM 2.0 is the first Free Diving Computer to calculate and track Nitrogen Tissue Loading, allowing you to switch between SCUBA dives and Free Dives on the same dive day.

Advanced Wristwatch Functions The ATOM 2.0 is an advanced digital wristwatch featuring a 1/100 second chronograph (stopwatch) with lap timer, 24 hour countdown timer, daily alarm, alternate time zone with date, 12/24 hour clock, and OceanGlo¦ Backlight.

Patented Air Time Remaining Algorithm You're at 80 feet with 1300 psi remaining in your cylinder - how long before you need to begin an ascent to a shallower depth? Our patented Air Time Remaining feature calculates your current depth, breathing rate, cylinder pressure, ascent time, and decompression status to tell you exactly how much time you can remain underwater. Full-Time Air Time Remaining Display The ATOM 2.0's primary dive mode always displays approximate Air Time Remaining in 10 minute increments.

Dive Time Remaining Dive Time Remaining, like Air Time Remaining provides a 'real' number in minutes, considering Air Time Remaining, Nitrogen and Oxygen absorption, and automatically displays whichever allows less time.

Comments about Oceanic Atom 2.0 Air Integrated Hoseless Dive Computer Watch:

It worked well for a year and then the time started resetting. I was vary of sending it for repair in case I ended up with something with more problems. And that is exactly what happened. Watch was replaced and a year later, it has a mind of it's own. Battery dies within a day, warning light goes on for no reason. Basically doing all sorts of wonders it wasn't meant to do, making to too dangerous to take underwater.

      Service and delivery comments:

delivery was excellent. In good condition and customer service is super

Comments about Oceanic Atom 2.0 Air Integrated Hoseless Dive Computer Watch:

Many other comments state how poor the instructions are & how difficult this unit is to operate. I did not find this to be an issue. This is not a timex watch! It's a fairly sophisticated computer w/as many functions, settings, and programs than the most expensive units. You have to expect some level of complexity when you only have 3 buttons to manipulate all the functions (4th button is just for the light). It does take a couple of readings of the manual and some playing w/the unit, but, once you've set your paramters, the basic functions are fairly intuitive. I'm not using it for buddy checks or for air integration (w/transmitter), but as a back up to my regular computer when using various gases between dives (e.g., 21%, 32%, 36%). The one thing I don't like is not being able to change gas % on the surface (i.e. between dives) as the unit is designed for gas exchange in water. So, when you go from air to 32% on dive #2, you have to enter the water before you can change the % - kind of a hassle & why it didn't rate the fifth star. Otherwise, the unit is as good a computer as I've used. The readings and backlight are great, the auto-defaults are handy so your not having to fumble through the most common screens (in water or during S/I)- although the screens are easy to get to. It's based on the modified haldanean model so it's not too conservative (significantly more liberal than the Suunto's). The unit is fairly compact and very light. Easy battery change. It's not really "suit" worthy, but it goes well w/outdoor apparel & not overly bulky.

Comments about Oceanic Atom 2.0 Air Integrated Hoseless Dive Computer Watch:

I have not gone diving with this yet (will in a month) but I do have to say it is extremely complicated. The manual is poorly written. I am a technical writer in custom software industry so it is safe to say I am technically adept, it took me a few hours how to get the Main time setup (not the alternate). The software looks like it was written by a freshman CS major in college.
Don't get me wrong - it has a crazy amount of options and I think I will like this. My dive instructor uses it and swears by it (hence I will be using it). So if you are considering a dive watch, look into this, but just be warned about the learning curve.

More to come after my diving in January 2009 :)

Comments about Oceanic Atom 2.0 Air Integrated Hoseless Dive Computer Watch:

This is a really nice dive computer. It is compact, stylish, and comfortable.

It is my first one and I don't have anything else to compare it to other than watching some friends Suunto units. As a recreational diver it does everything I seem to need. I didn't find it difficult to use, but I do wish the buttons were labeled to match the manual. The manual calls out S, L, A, M but the buttons have symbols instead. However, most of these are used out of the water. In the water, pretty much everything is on one screen.

Learn the transmitter linking procedure before diving! I didn't have a tank, so I couldn't do it until I got to the dive site... and yeah I left the manual at home. I thought my dive was done, but luckily, I was able explore my way through it and figured it out in 10 minutes. There are only 4 buttons, 1 which is the light, so there were only so many permutations.

The PC software is ok, but I would have expected something a little better and more polished. I also found the linking procedure to be a tad quirky, but it gets the job done.

Overall, I am pleased with this unit.
