DESCRIPTION

Whats in the box:1st Stage, 2nd Stage, LP Braided Hose

Oceanic's Alpha 8 second stage and SP5 first stage produce a low priced no frills regulator system that offers easy breathing. This regulator is so rugged and economical to maintain (replacement parts are inexpensive) that it's become popular as a rental.

It can be used with air or nitrox mixtures up to 40 percent right out of the box.

FIRST STAGE
At 26 ounces, the SP5 is one of Oceanic's lightest first stages and features an unbalanced piston design and is machined from marine brass and chrome plated. It features DVT (Dry Valve Technology), an innovative design that keeps moisture and contaminants out of the first stage, even if you forget to put the dust cap on. This means internal components remain corrosion and bacteria free. It means that the SP5 is excellent for diving in waters filled with contaminants or sediment (it won't corrode). The DVT system helps keep air flow to the diver unrestricted. It starts to work as soon as the dive is over, before the regulator is even removed from the tank. It features a balanced piston, designed to deliver a constant supply of air no matter how deep you dive, how hard you work or how little breathing gas remains in your tank. Since the piston is the only moving part in the first stage, internal wear is minimized and performance is maximized. It offers one high pressure port and four low pressure ports.

Comments about Oceanic Alpha 8 SP5 DVT Piston Regulator, Blue:

I've rented for three years before buying, this reg is better than any I rented at a very good price. I like the simple piston design, and I like the cold water rating. The DIN adapter is very handy for those overcapacity steel 120s, but watch out: they sock the yoke on really tight, you will need a thin jaw crescent wrench and a vise to get it off... The second stage often chatters on first use in air while prepping for a dive, it has never chattered in the water. I've had it down to 90 feet, works the same regardless of depth. Does not free-flow.
