The First and Only Regulator Dedicated to Women.

A natural expansion of the successful She Dives line, Mares presents a lightweight regulator with uncompromising performance. The all chrome plated marine brass first stage regulator is a balanced diaphragm design which is environmentally sealed. The diaphragm membrane transmits the pressure changes to the internal mechanism eliminating the need for the surrounding water to enter the intricate mechanism. The benefit of this type of first stage design is that none of the internal parts are exposed to contaminants such as salt, sand, chlorine or pool acids. These environmental contaminants cause corrosion and mineral deposits to form on the internal mechanism deteriorating regulator performance.

The Proton 42 Metal uses Tri-Material Valve Technology. This patented technology created to optimize performance, safety and reliability. The valve is covered with a hard Polyurethane (PU) and the sealing surface is a layered with a soft PU for a perfect seal. Tri-material (brass, soft PU and …heavy-duty" PU) reaches new levels of durability.

Another unique feature of the first-stage is the Dynamic Flow Control (DFC). The DFC system minimizes the intermediate pressure drop during inhalation, making it possible to use a simpler more reliable second stage. No type of manual adjustment of the second stage is necessary due to the consistency derived from a first stage that guarantees a stable flow of air, even under extreme conditions.

All metal technology second stages have superior performance over plastic second stages, especially in cold water, due to the high thermal conductivity that limits the freezing effect. Additional benefits are the improved durability, the longer working life and less dry mouth from breathing compressed air. This all metal second stage is made of marine grade brass.

The patented mesh design of the second stage cover reduces the pressure of water flowing onto the regulators diaphragm and minimizes free-flow. Even in a strong current it eliminates the need for a knob to de-tune your air delivery system- advance technology through basic physics.

All Mares second stages are a reliable downstream valve design and offer the unique patented Vortex Assisted Design (VAD) system. The air bypass tube conveys air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in the center that keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, for very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths.

Mares developed the Superflex hose after many years of testing and research. The results achieved far surpassed the tests required by EN250. Hose is extremely light weight and exceptionally soft, guaranteeing the maximum freedom of movement and further reducing jaw fatigue. Superflex hose is 3/8" Threaded hose and is 29.5" (75 cm) in length. Mares Proton 42 Metal comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Comments about Mares Proton 42 Metal She Dives Regulator:

Light , good design, easy to breathe, not bulky however not reliable. Started freeflowing after less than 100 dives , having just been serviced .
I've just replaced it as I do not trust it and will not buy Mares regs again as they seem to have a tendency to freeflow.

Comments about Mares Proton 42 Metal She Dives Regulator:

I bought this for my girlfriend. She said it's the best regulator ever! Just perfect! She and I made several dives below 100ft with ease. Plus she loves the Mares' "She dive" design and logo on the reg. The blue plastic makes it a little lighter than my all metal proton 42.

Compare the performance graphs and specs from Mares website with other best selling top-of-the-line regulators and you'll see this is the best performance for the price. Truely effortless breathing at all depths. This is also one of the lightest metal regulator on the market. Love the plastic channels at the bottom of the reg that guides your exhale back around your head. Helps keep the bubbles out of your view.

Comments about Mares Proton 42 Metal She Dives Regulator:

After diving for several years with a big, bulky and heavy reg designed for a goliath, I am very pleased to have found the She Dives. It is light weight, small and is very comfortable, and has enough ports. It packs easily in the included bag for carry-on. It's a high quality product suitable for my varied diving (cold mid-west murk, tropical, nitrox, etc.). I'm very happy with this purchase!
