DESCRIPTION

Whats in the box:Computer and Owner's Manual

The Most Stylish and Complete Watch-style computer all the great features you came to know with the original NEMO restyled with a few extras: Even tougher components used for extreme durability, newly shaped strap to form more comfortably to your wrist, upgraded display for increased digit readability.

Nemo Excel Computer uses Mares-Wienke RGBM (Reduced Gradient Bubbles Model) algorithm. The RGBM takes into account the phenomenon of micro-bubbles in order to prevent their formation. In over 10,000 real dives monitored by Dr. Bruce Wienke in the Los Alamos laboratories, the formation of micro-bubbles has been studied and evaluated in order to better understand the mechanism behind how micro-bubbles are formed during a dive. Today it is the most evolved algorithm for reducing the formation of micro-bubbles without compromising dive times.

The easy excess push buttons allow the diver to operate the computer in all conditions, even when wearing thick gloves. Navigating through the computer programs is extremely simple and very intuitive. There are four special function modes of Air, Nitrox Free Dive and Bottom Time. The Nemo Excel has a maximum depth display of 492' (150 meter), a memory capacity of 38 hours, runs on a 3 Volt CR2430 lithium-ion battery, power indicator, back lighting for low light conditions, has a plan mode display, can be used in both imperial or metric units, fresh or seawater settings, residual nitrogen reset, option to exclude audible alarms and uncontrolled ascents", has an ascent rate indicators and is altitude adjustable.

The Nemo knows that not all of us who dive are young and in peak condition, it address this with precautionary program settings that allow individual adjustment to more conservative dive profiles if needed. When you do multi-level, multiple dives during a single day or multiple dives over several days you can choose different setting levels in order to adjust your computer to a more conservative dive profile.

The Nemo has superior display readability. In order to offer an easy-to-read display Mares produced a wide computer display, with intense backlighting and high contrast. The computer featuring illuminated, oversized digits with a mineral glass screen which is scratch resistant, shock proof and non-reflective. Special attention is paid to maximize the viewing angle, to eliminate angular distortion and to always grant the best readability.

The Nemo has an optional USB interface for logging dives on your PC, SKU: MRSPCM1 Iris PC Interface. The Nemo also has a watch, dual time, stop watch, daily alarm, date, and temperature functions. Smart, easy to use Nemo can do it all. Computer comes with a 24 month limited warranty.

Got one these over the holidays from the LDS and made four dives with while on vacation in Puerto Rico. I compared it the my regular computer, Genesis React Pro. By the end of the second dive I found myself referring to the Nemo Excel exclusively. It is easy to read and tells you everything at a glance. I do not feel the RGBM algorithm was limiting in bottom time as compared to the Haldanian model in use by Genesis, when I had 4 minutes left at depth on Nemo, I was on my second caution diamond on the React Pro, I generally make it a point to avoid going into the cation area of the React Pro, so in my case every thing comes down to ergonomics and ease of use when comparing the two. To both computers credit they were in prefect agreement at all times in terms of bottom time and depth. To top if off, you just can't beat the ruggedness and looks of the Nemo Excel.

I would not buy this product again

This watch is only a few days old. The backlight is very weak and comes on for only approx. 4 seconds. The alarm is also very weak.

Comments about Mares Nemo Excel Dive Computer Wrist Watch:

I like the fact that you can power it off to prolong the battery life. Has most of the features of a Suunto D4 with only %65 of the price. However this watch is not comfortable for people with big wrests. It feels awkward on my hand due to it is curved sides and it does not come except in one size strap (short for my hand). You would need to buy the extension strap (an extra $35-$40. It does the job well, though.

Comments about Mares Nemo Excel Dive Computer Wrist Watch:

This computer is stylish, even elegant. It is very solid, made mostly of stainless steel. This is the best looking piece I have seen and I have a watch fetish. Very importantly, the buttons are well placed and the menu sequence is intuitive and easy to master. It is an excellent choice for someone who wants a streamlined wrist computer.
But you will have to do without a couple of minor features:
        - It does not have a surface interval timer.
        - There is no real calculation of no-fly times. If you dive once in 24 hours, it reads a 12 hour no fly time; two dives in 24 hours and it goes to 24 hours. The bright side here is that you can subtract from 12 or 24 to calculate your SI.
        - no compass
