X-stream comfort, X-ceptional efficiency
The X-stream performance, comfort and lightweight design are the incredible result of sixty passionate years at the service of diving. The X-stream is truly a leap into the future, and changes forever how we envision the creation of a fin. More than 2 years of resources, experiments and testing and four Mares patents all concentrated in one unique product.

The Optimized Pivoting Blade system (OPB) allows the blade to maintain an optimal angle throughout the kicking cycle, whereas traditional fins achieve this only during a small portion of the cycle, OPB produces a constant thrust, which minimizes fatigue and produces fluid movement through the water.

The ergonomically designed foot pocket delivers maximum power and evenly distributes pressure over the foot to minimize fatigue. The foot pocket interior features internal ribbing that improves fit, eliminates foot suction and prevents foot pocket flexing, while transmitting more power to the blade.

X-Streme uses Mares patented design ABS Plus Buckles (Adjustable Binding System). It only takes one quick movement to easily open or close these buckles, even when wearing thick neoprene gloves. The double button release prevents the buckles from accidentally opening making them the most user friendly system on the market.

The Super-Channel is designed for the diver who wants the perfect blend of power and efficiency in one fin. The new blade design with a large central Super-channel and two traditional lateral channels provide excellent thrust while maintaining hi-efficiency and minimizing leg fatigue. The blade uses Tri-Material Construction, constructed of Techno-Polymers and Thermoplastic rubber for extended durability.

Fin comes in four colors and three sizes, has an overall length between 23" to 25.2" (60 to 64 cm) depending on size and weights 2.9 lbs (1.34 kg); fins come with a 24 month limited warranty.

I've owned 3 pairs of fins, with my second pair (Mares Volo Power) being my favorite. I bought these last week for a dive this last weekend. They fit great, they looked even better, and they seemed to have power. With that said, I had a hundred or so yard surface swim and they killed my feet, ankles, calves, knees, and hips. I realized very quickly, that for me, these fins were just too stiff. Of course now I am stuck with a top of the line pair of fins that I hate, because I gave my beloved Mares Volo Power fins away. Bottom line, I am sure these are great fins for some people, but they were tough of my legs.

Comments about Mares X-Stream Open Heel Fins:

I am female, an advance diver but haven't dove in years and have recently started again. I would call myself recreational/occasional and am of an average fitness level - not an athlete by any means! I asked my local dive store for a fin that would be easy to kick due to my fitness and time out of the water and I was told this was the fin. I disagree, like another reviewer mentioned I find these hard to kick and felt much fatigue, foot and leg cramping. I kick from my hip, I do not bicycle kick. These are probably great for someone who's fitness level is good or above average. I did find they are very light weight with a good fit and have great propulsion. They are also a pretty fin. I will try the Tusa SF-15 fin next.

I have only used these a few times so far but LOVE everything about them! The only problem I find is that they aren't very comfortable when wearing them without boots on but other then that they are incredible.
