DESCRIPTION
This pneumatic spear gun propels the spear shaft at great speeds and with remarkable penetrating power, superior to that of power band spear guns. These characteristics are crucial when stalking large oceanic fish. The longer lengths of power band spear guns don't allow the quick and intuitive to aim characteristics of a slim, compact weapon with a slender "nose" such as the Cyrano.

The ergonomic handle with flexible inserts offers an excellent grip. If you need to release your spear gun the inserts make it easy to see from above, due to its highly visible color. In the shorter sizes, Cyrano offers maximum manageability and speed for close range and rock or reef hole fishing. All Cyrano spear guns are come standard with a carry bag. All Mares guns come completely charged for immediate use, and do not require charging between shots. The design utilizes a captive system that re-uses the charge of air repeatedly.

The Cyrano 1100 and 970 models are equipped with a 7-mm (17-4PH) stainless steel double-tip Tahitian shaft with embedded lower barb. The 700 and 850 models are provided with a standard 7-mm (17-4PH) stainless steel shaft with a threaded end for a spear tip. All Cyrano Spear Guns have a power adjustment system, regular loader with metal insert, shock line, air pump, and come with a 24 month limited warranty.

Cyrano Spear Gun models are the following lengths:
700-28" (71.1 cm)
850-34" (86.4 cm)
970-39" (99.1 cm)
1 100-44" (111.8 cm)

This is the BEST gun!

I have two of those (different length). Both required service (leaked air, certain handle parts would be lost, etc.) It is a good gun if you can service it yourself. I can. It required adding mineral (or castor) oil and replacing o-rings. Not very easy to disassemble. It is bulky and can not be dragged through the water quickly if you want to follow with it a fast moving fish. It is pretty accurate and very powerful. Ability to change strength of the shot is a plus.
Since the handle is in the back, it is not balanced at all and it could get tiresome to hold it in a proper position - aiming forward.
It shoots louder than a rubber gun and some say it scares the fish away. Stock shaft is a painted steel prone to rust. I have a bunch of 7mm stainless stell shafts. Overall for heavy usage prepare for problems in case you can not service it yourself. For me it is a hobby, so I am OK with that.

For deep water fishing it also requires a reel and at least 30-40 yards of line which adds a significant expense.

850 is difficult to load for somebody less than 6 feet tall - it requires pressing the handle against your leg.

Comments about Mares Cyrano Pneumatic Spear Guns:

I bought this great gun almost a year ago and has been working very well under all conditions. Because of its length, you better use it for open waters where large fish get around. It's so fast and powerfull that once you aim it right at the apropiate range, the fish is yours. The handle is very comfortable, the lock is very easy to use, the muzzle is very aerodynamic and makes the gun very quick and agil to make a fast turn.A good tip to load this long gun: I made myself a harness belt type that goes around my waist with an aluminum buckle on the front, from the buckle, another belt goes straight down with a loop at the end where I put or secure the handle, the muzzle gets up to my waist level and with my left hand I grab de shaft and the right one pushes it in. By doing this, I save time, energy and most important: Don't bend my 7 mm shafts.Overall: Excellent gun from every point of view!

Comments about Mares Cyrano Pneumatic Spear Guns:

EXCELLENT GUN, EASY TO HANDLE AND ACCURATE. I BOUGHT AFTERMARKET SPRING STEEL SHAFTS, MUCH BETTER THAN THE STOCK ONES, WHICH ACCEPT THE STANDARD 6 MM AB BILLER SPEAR TIPS. ALSO I BOUGHT A RETRACTABLE AFTERMARKET HANDLE THROUGH NEWPORT DIVE CENTER, WHICH MAKES LOADING EASIER FOR SHORTER DIVERS (I AM ONLY 5.11). IT IS ALSO USEFUL TO LENGHTEN THE STRING OF THE LOADER SO AS TO PULL THE SHAFT IN WIHT YOUR WRIST FOR THE FIRST 5 OR 6". WITH THESE TRICKS IT HAS BECOME EASIER FOR ME TO LOAD IT EVEN AT 30 PLUS ATM.
