DESCRIPTION

Whats in the box:Pair of Boots

Following the Trilastic system concept, Mares created the most comfortable boots, engineered to allow the highest control and power transmission during fining action. The boot material differs depending on the area of concern. The ankle incorporates a super-elastic neoprene rubber for flexibility allowing free movement for less fatigue. The lower section uses standard neoprene rubber to ensure warmth.

The boot is equipped with an YKK zipper with an internal neoprene seal to reduce water exchange adding additional warmth. Trilastic Boots are built tough with a reinforced toe and heel, rear notch to secure fin strap, and a raised heel to help keep balance when carrying the weight of all your equipment. Boot is 5 mm thick and comes with a 24 month warranty.

I bought these after having to hike a 1/4 a mile to the dive site in full gear. I like having something more solid under my foot and the arch support they afford makes them more comfortable for me. I wear a shoe size 11 and bought these as 10s from the comments people made on them. Good thing. They could be just a skosh longer but I think the 11s would have been way too big in volume. Only dived them 5 times since the purchase so I won't know about durability for a bit but they appear to be quality made and they were an excellent price.

I bought these mail order without trying them on, and wish I had. They're very well-constructed with a thick outsole and a surprising amount of foot support. The heel cup really makes your foot feel more secure. They almost feel like hiking boots, these would be perfect for walking across lava fields in Hawaii.

However, because of their rugged construction and thick sole, they don't fit into my Apollo Biofins. Unfortunately I have to send them back. The sizing is very large - I wear a size 12 shoe, ordered an 11, and I'm swimming in them. A 10 would probably do it, but a 9 wouldn't be out of the question. A little velcro patch to keep the zipper up would also be nice, but I haven't used these in the water so don't know if that's really an issue. They're also quite heavy (~ twice the weight of a thinner-soled boot), something to consider with the new weight restrictions on airlines.

A great rugged boot, but oversized, heavy, and too large to fit in the toe box of my fins.

Comments about Mares Trilastic 5mm Dive Boots:

I wear a size 11-wide in a Reebok walking sneaker(perfect fit). I have sometimes been able to feel comfortable in a size 12 regular dress shoe to get the needed width without being too long. So I ordered the size 12 in hopes it would be wide enough and not too long. Turns out the boot was longer than expected yet still narrow in the instep although it seemed maybe wide enough in the toe box. I mostly was looking for beach walking boots for in and out of the water. I passed the boots on to my son who is an actual size 12 regular width and he said they seem to fit fine.

Comments about Mares Trilastic 5mm Dive Boots:

This boot is a great fit for a wide foot. Buy it one size smaller than your shoe size. The boot has good arch support and an easy to use zipper. It has a heavy duty sole for walking on rocks.
