DESCRIPTION

Whats in the box:Lavacore by Oceanic Socks Unisex

Lavacore is a technically advanced fabric, constructed and engineered exclusively for water sports requiring the ultimate in thermal control and superior comfort. This unique synthetic construction closely matches the stretch and movement of a traditional Lycia rash vest, while providing the insulation qualities similar to that of a neoprene wetsuit. Close to the skin, Lavacore's soft internal fleece and high 4-way stretch produces the ultimate comfort-warmth-weight ratio, a true leader amongst any fabrics within the water sports industry.

Wet or dry, hot or cold, Lavacore helps control your core temperature longer, whether worn as a standalone garment, or under your wetsuit or clothing.

OUTER Lycia layer is a 6.35 oz/10.8 sq. feet (180g/sq. m) knitted nylon wrap knit Tricot with water repellant treatment to ensure fast water runoff and anti wind chill properties.

INTER layer is an impermeable breathable Micro-porous high stretch Polyurethane (PU) film which is wind proof and breathable allowing perspiration to be drawn away in hot conditions.

INNER Fleece layer is a 8.47 oz/10.8 sq. feet (180g/sq. m) 4 way stretch polyester fleece with elastane. It has Anti Pill treatment, as well as Anti Microbial treatment to reduce odors and eliminate bacteria.

Lavacore is neutrally buoyant so you won't need to add weight to your weight system compromising your weight comfort zone. Full gusset incorporated into the underarms offer exceptional arm movement and stretch and all seams are overlapped during flat-lock sewing to ensure maximum water integrity and strength. Lavacore provides SPF 30+ sun protection and is designed and developed with Oceanic, your guarantee of quality. Socks come with a 12 month limited warranty.

I purchased these to use in Nome Alaska. My Daughter informed me that the most important item to bring was waterproof hiking boots as the weather was very rainy and any excursions onto the tundra would require such.

I was not going to spend big bucks for something I would never use again when I realized that my SCUBA hard soled boots were waterproof and if I had insulating and water resistant socks I would be OK.

I was right. I wore the Lavacore socks in my SCUBA boots and in a pair of Keen's and never had cold feet.

Since then I've worn them diving and find them easy to put on and they make slipping on wetsuits much easier. They also add an additional layer of warmth. Most appreciated in circumstances that often find temperatures at or below 50°F

These socks are great for full foot fins. Keeps your feet warm however, for some reason they retain the stink (dead fish) after diving and rinsing them in the rinse tank that had pinesole type product for the stink. I had to wash em with woolite soap in my cabin to get the stink out.
Was on a 10 day live aboard and wore these with my new Aqualung hotshot fins (poor quality, rubber pieces started becoming unglued).
Kept my feet warm enough in water temps of 72 to 86. I bought them cause unlike thin lycra socks they're thicker so less chances of blisters, warmer and they had a rubberized grip pattern on the soles. Unfortunately the rubber started wearing off after day 3 of the 10 day cruise. I guess it was the textured paint used on the deck that really did them in.
I was interested in a Lavacore vest for extra warmth but wonder how bad it would stink after the rinse tank.

    BIG SIZING PROBLEM!

Comments about Lavacore by Oceanic Socks Unisex:

The sizing was a real problem for me. I take a 10 1/2 Men's Medium Width US Shoe size. Which acdording to the size chart means I need a Large. So I ordered them in a Large and they came in marked as large. I could not get them bast my instep. So there was no way I was going to get them past my heel. I don't take a wide shoe so I don't understand what the problem was. They probably were small by two sizes. Since "Large" is the largest size they come in I had to send them back. They also are thin and don't seem to durable. I'm going to try the Scuba Pro Hybrid Socks and see how they work out.

Comments about Lavacore by Oceanic Socks Unisex:

I'm NOT a cold water diver so I wanted something to keep me warm in the Cozumel Caribbean in December. This (along with the hood and long sleeve shirt) were perfect. My feet stayed nice and warm. They were almost perfect to wear with foot-pocket fins. I was between sizes and ordered the larger which were a bit too large but it's better than too small. Love this entire line.

These were so comfortable. We purchased these for use on a live-aboard (26 dives in 5.5 days) and never developed blisters or hot spots on our feet (additional pair bought for my wife). The lining was very comfortable and in 77 degree water with 3 mm full suit, neither of our toes ever felt chilled. I plan on wearing these on every dive in the future, regardless of water temperature. But on chilly dives, these go from 'nice' to a 'must have'.

Comments about Lavacore by Oceanic Socks Unisex:

I almost didn't get these socks thinking that the price wasn't worth it. Then I decided to take a shot. I get cold very fast and my feet and hands normally get the brunt of that.
I ordered a size S and wear a women's 6.5-7 shoe. I think ordering up a size would have been ok also.
These are very soft and warm and help put on a semi-dry suit when put on under or over a skin.
With these on my feet did not feel cold in 65-69F water. The bottom of the sock has some kind of anti-slip traction.
In a boat situation I would recommend maybe washing them out in the sink or shower because after day 2 they were really STINKY! This did not affect their performance however.
I liked these socks so much I am ready to purchase more LavaCore products.
If you are "in between sizes" I might recommend moving up a size; they fit somewhat tightly.

Love these. They don't stretch out like the lycra ones did. They are easy on and off, are durable, and warm. They make getting wetsuits and boots on and off much easier.
