Competition Magnum XHD* XHD stands for Extra Heavy Duty and we mean it. Thicker alloy barrel, 3/8" hardened, stainless shaft, trigger mechanisms are carbide tipped and all models are equipped with 5/8" Hi-Mod bands that feature stainlesswire wishbones. The XHD is the gun of choice for commercial and hard-core shooters; to these guys it's a tool not a toy.
Three bands and a heavy shaft will punch through just about any fish, which is why the Shark Research Institute depends on the XHD for tough jobs like radio tagging 40' (12.2 meter) whale sharks. Go big, go XHD. XHD Guns are nearly identical to the Magnum guns, but more rugged, and longer lasting. Using more heat-treated steel and more powerful slings, these guns provide longevity and power in one.
The Guns overall length is 53" (134.6 cm) the 17-4 JBL736S shaft is 36" (91.4 cm) long. Gun is equipped with the JBL519 Shock Line. Sometimes we miss or we shoot a large fish and the recoil can pull the gun out of your grip, which ever,the shock line will keep you in control. Guns range is 22' (6.71 meters). The three JBL320 slings with 302 stainless steel wishbones give maximum power.
Let's get right to the point, these tips are designed to punch through even the toughest fish, penetrating thick skin and hard bone. Constructed of hardened 17-4 stainless with a razor sharp finish they'll make short work of just about any game fish. Low-profile, stainless wings are quickly deployed and angled to grab tight and hold on. Sliding wing retainer allows for easy removal of fish. Our patented (#4685239) rotating design allows for 360 degree spin, providing greater holdingpower and minimizing the chance of your point unthreading from the shaft as a result of a fish "rolling" in battle. 2-5/8-inch wing span designed to perform even after impact on rock and reef, the JBL843 is a durable workhorse. Each point is designed for low maintenance, dependability and most important results.
All that strain from the three slings doesn't translate to a hard trigger pull; on the contrary gun has an easier trigger pull even with extreme pressure from the heavy duty bands. Trigger mechanism has hand polished carbide inserts for longer life and durability. Barrel and trigger housing are both manufactured from aircraft quality anodized aluminum; the barrel is extra heavy-duty to eliminate flexing.
