DESCRIPTION
The housing can be used on small boats, in the surf, while swimming, snorkeling or diving. It's easy to operate the camera as its various components and buttonscan be operated through the PVC. The U-AXP is designed to fit almost all common SLR cameras on the market today, irrespective of the manufacturer or model. Withthis housing, a whole new world of applications opens up for your standard SLR camera: Inside the housing you can now take the camera safely canoeing, snorkeling or even diving, up to a depth of 150' (50 meters).

Housing is designed to take the larger SLR cameras like the Nikon F4, F5 and Canon EOS 1, EOS 3. The internal volume of trapped air inside the housing allowsfor use to depths of 150' (50 meters)! Experienced photographers have confirmed, that both the auto focus and flash continue to function under these depth conditions. As you descend, the air is compressed surrounding the camera, this allows the pressure inside the housing to remain the same as the surrounding water pressure (ambient).

Due to this depth compensating design feature, we have to start the dive with a suitable amount of air inside the housing. The foam pads supplied with the housing are part of this air "reservoir" and additional air should also be blowninto the housing, via the valve at the rear of the housing, to ensure that the maximum potential volume is being utilized.

Designed specifically for 35mm SLR cameras, the U-AXP housing is manufactured from double laminated PVC and has an integrated, optically neutral flat glass port. The external flash that is commonly used on SLR cameras fits into the specially designed section on the top of the housing. It has a pair of non-corrosive and seawater resistant clamping rails which fit together for perfect sealing. They tighten by means of three screw knobs. Housing comes with a handy yellow carry-case which has a water-proof interior and zippered side-pocket for accessories.

Comments about Ewa-marine Underwater AF SLR / Digital Camera Housing U-AXP - (Rated f/ 50 Meter/150' depth) #U-AXP:

I have used this product on several dive trips and have taken some amazing photographs, both close up and distant. I learned quickly that you must buy the lens ring and 3# wt. accessories to have any chance of using your camera/flash correctly. You must also inflat the bag properly for various depths (alot of air for below 60')which will require more wt. on you as well. If you do not inflat the bag properly the plastic clamps down on all you camera's buttons and it will not work. I found this out diving with schooling hammerheads in La Paz. Bad deal!
