I do a lot of beach diving and need reasonably strong boots with a decent tread I can use to hike into a remote spot, then slip into fins and use comfortably in the water. These are the best boots I've yet found for this purpose.I used these with Mare Avanti Superchannels which have a nice, deep foot pocket. The Mares and the Deep Sees were a perfect match. I first used these on several beach dives in Bermuda. Truthfully, they were warmer than necessary in the Bermuda water, but I'd rather be too warm than too cold while diving. The first pair I received had a very rough seem along the big-toe side on the inside that would have cut into my foot had I used it diving. [...] The lesson is, though, that if you decide to get these, make sure you wear them around for a bit before you take them diving; Deep See's build quality may be a bit questionable. Having said that, I also own a pair of their gloves and they're fantastic. It was probably just an anomoly.

Bought a set of these boots for both myself and my wife to replace our 7mm cold water tall boots for shore diving in Bonaire. While I love the nice hard sole and the easy ability to quickly take them on and off. The boots are a tad too short as they don't seal the the wetsuit and thus cause increased water flow through the wetsuit versus our old 7mm tall boots. If these boots were 2" taller all would be good. The second grip is the boots wore both my wife's and my Achilles raw over the course of the week both where the fin strap hits our foot and at another spot on top of my feet only. With our old boots this never happened to my wife, but did occasionally happen to me. About 3/4 the way through our dive trip we tried cinching our fin strap to the hard sole, which is lower than a person would normally place it and it seemed to help. However, we only dive 1.5 days using this method so can't say for certain it would correct the extreme rubbing. Finally the size of the boots is about 1/2 size too large. I typically where a mens 9 and the 8 was too small with my toes crammed against the end and the boot squeezing the sides of my feet and the 9 was too large with my foot swimming in the boot.

Overall your options are extremely limited if you want a hard soled short boot for shore diving as this was one of the few I could find.

Bought these for shore diving in Bonaire, Hard sole is perfect for entering over loose broken coral. As others have said they do run about a half size big.

Comments about Deep See 3mm Men's Caribbean Boot:

Bought these for both my wife and I, and we both found the fit confining. While the sizing was correct, the fit throughout the boot was narrow and the toes pinched. Going up another size made the boot longer, but did not alleviate the narrow. tight toebox.
