Have 40 dives on it, mostly boat diving where I usually come in with 1000-1200psi left. But last week's trip 5 shore dives I noticed the reg during it's last 1000-500psi made me suck real hard to get the air out of it. My other shore dive exits were fine if I had 1000psi+ left so I never noticed this before.

Easy starter unit

Pros

  • Easy to put together
  • Great price for starters

Cons

  • Free Flow Issues

Best Uses

  • Cold Water
  • Good starter set

Comments about Cressi XS2/AC2 Piston Regulator:

Really easy to put together, some free flow issues we will watch for frequency. Would like a longer second stage hose. The price for the unit and the functionality make it a great starter unit. We used it in Woahink lake as a test run and found it funtioned in cold water perfectly outside the freeflow issues.

Comments about Cressi XS2/AC2 Piston Regulator:

I bought this reg because it was on sale. I do solo diving and I made my own pony system for safety and this is the reg I use it for and I feel confident this reg will get me out of any situation. It free-flowed heavily on my first dive with it, but after that, no issues. For more advanced diving, I would defintely suggest spending the money and getting a better reg. This is good for occasional useage such as if it's just for a pony system.

Cons

  • Breathes wet
  • Causes Jaw Fatigue
  • Free Flow Issues

Best Uses

  • Shallow dives
  • Warm Water

Comments about Cressi XS2/AC2 Piston Regulator:

Used this regulator on my first 15 dives both in class and after. Not a bad regulator and definitely one of the better low cost regulators. I did have issues on almost every dive with it freeflowing if not kept in a perfect orientation but once you're breathing from it its fine. I also noticed it breathes a bit wet, not a big issue but not something you should expect in nicer regs. Lastly at 80ft and below it tends to become a bit more difficult to breathe from.

I purchase this regulator for use with a pony bottle. I have used it 6 times now with no problems. It breathes easily and the price is hard to beat. For those looking for an inexpensive regulator, I would recommend this one.

Comments about Cressi XS2/AC2 Piston Regulator:

The 2nd stage is decent, it is a bit large, but not heavy and breathes good. It is a good value reg for sure. The 1st stage is not the best, for one it only has 1 hp port, second of all it isn't angled very well and doesn't sit very nicely on the tank leaving the hose's a bit awkward. For what it cost overall though it functions just fine for a starter reg set.
