DESCRIPTION

Whats in the box:Mask and Mask Box

This mask was designed specifically for deep sea free diving, with innovative features that place it at the top of its category. The special reduced volume skirt, complete with a small seal ring, sticks like a suction cup to the face, leaving minimum air space inside the mask, which make mask equalization extremely easy, taking very little air from the divers lungs.

The lens-eye distance from the diver's eyes is at the absolute minimum and even with small diameter lenses, offers an excellent field of vision in all directions. The two optic quality glass tempered lenses are thicker than the standard mask lens to allow for the addition of a special safety molding that protect them from the increased pressure at depth. The strap comes equipped with quick adjusting buckles for an easy and precise fit.

This mask is easy to clear, is the lowest volume mask in the Cressi line and is popular among free divers, spear fishermen and Scuba divers alike. To protect your mask when not in use the Minima comes with a hard plastic protective mask box.

When this mask is completely flooded it seems to hold about 3 teaspoons of water, so it's exceptional for anyone seeking true, low-volume performance. The range of vision is average+ as you consider the glare-reduction properties of dark-skirted masks. As an instructor, I can tell you that atm pressure on the airspace created by a mask has a wonderful way of keeping that mask sealed to your face. So, if while fitting the mask it seals to your face without the strap, it should stay on your head in the water with only slight tension on the strap. This should make the assertion that can be heard fom time to time regarding a tightness-retension problem with the mask a non-issue for anyone who doesn't have an especially large head.

I use the mask for light swimming in lakes, pools and the ocean. The fit of the facemask is good, and the lenses are very clear and flat, so there is no visual distortion.

    CONS:

The strap feels cheap, and the mask can't fit as snugly as I would like because the tightening mechanisms on either side of the mask don't hold the strap fast if the strap is tightened too much.

Comments about Cressi Minima Mask, All Black:

I use this as a primary or backup mask in freediving and scubadiving. The little volume makes for an ideal vacuum at greater depths and secures the mask well. It sits great on the surface as well although it does have a flimsy strap (that i recommend one upgrades). It is incredibly small when folded and fits any BCD pocket.

It's a great little number and I strenuously recommend it!

Comments about Cressi Minima Mask, All Black:

Don't understand the gripes I have read here, this mask is clearly superior to my professional dive masks in my gear. Yes the strap is too thin and slips, I replaced with 3/8" black surgical hose and executed non-stop, 40 laps in an olympic sized pool. I used the combat-swimmer stroke, involves more movement and could not get the mask to leak. Superior to clear and almost no buoyancy. I have a medium to large face, wear 7 1/2 hat size. Diving is even better with this mask, I am ordering another one. If anyone out there hates theirs, send me yours I'll pay you 10 Bucks for it. I would definitely recomend this to novice and pro alike. Clearing this mask takes a tiny snort, should have had one when I was beginning diving.

    Diving, not swimming

Comments about Cressi Minima Mask, All Black:

To start off, this mask is for shallow to deep diving, not swimming, snorkeling, water sports...
Due to the masks low volume profile, light weight and comfortable fit, it's not going to hug your face well enough for any quick head jerks at shallow depths but if you add a bit more pressure from dives it'll hold great.
As a somewhat noob freediver I love this mask compared to what I learned with (a regular snorkeling mask). It's much easier to equalize, my head feels slightly less buoyant and I've also noticed I can get to my target depths a bit easier and stay there a bit longer than before.
Oh and it's easier to plug your nose because of the thin rubber it's made out of, if that's how you clear your ears.

Comments about Cressi Minima Mask, All Black:

I am going to do a week long trip this week in Northern California, but I have tested the mask. Comments about it being delicate seem off to me. - A mask should be treated like your own eyes IMHO as a PADI Instructor and Commercial Diver and REC diver. While not as tough as some maske due to its small size and relatively delicate build, this is porecisely why it works so well, and I don't expect to encounter any particular issues. If you need a mask that purges faster than a sneeze, and that has adequate vision and travels well, this mask is for you generally. I got mine for [$] and at that cost, it is a definite back-up mask candidate for your gear, no matter what your requirements are.Tha's what I think. Great mask for diving deep which is what it is designed for.No discomfort at 10+ meters which is a first for me Not the best for floating on the surface. This is great for me ...it keeps my kids from stealing it!Strap feel too light but at deeper depths it is not needed.Looks super cool. A problem again for me related to the kids.I often find it in the tub.
