Nice choice for an SMB deployment spool. I got 80' of orange line. Not sure if you can easily use it if you wear gloves though. Also the brass bolt changed color after two dives in the Pacific. Great value for [$]

Great little reel. Easy to store in your BC if you're tight on space and traveling. I've used mine now quite a few seasons in Bonaire at unmarked sites to run sausages up and to mark entry/exit points on dives. It's simple and works for anything "vertical" but I wouldn't use it for anything advanced like cave diving or wrecks. But for the average diver wanting a reel, this one is a great value. So much so, I own 2!

I recently used this reel to deploy a surface marker so the dive boat could find us on a drift dive off Roatan. I have a knotted loop tied in the line at the 15' mark to use for a safety stop. We hung out below the marker for our 3 minute stop and watched the boat come to us to pick us up. The line is plenty strong enough for this use and made of abrasion resistant braided nylon so it will last for years. The supplied clip is handy to hang on a "D" ring and fits easily into the holes along the rim of the reel. The reel is small enough to put it in your BC pocket if you don't want it dangling on the clip. The reel is well made and rugged. I expect it will be part of my gear for years to come.
