DESCRIPTION
DF2200PX THE ULTIMATE IN PORTABLE DEPTH

The 2200PX is the most versatile handheld depth sounder ever produced. Not only will it give you instant depth readings, from 2.5 ' to 199', in 1/10th precision, but at the press of a button the display will give real-time temperature (water or air) and fish readings. Use it in the winter to shoot through ice before cutting your hole. Use it in the summer as a range finder and temperature meter while diving. Use it as a backup depth sounder on your pleasure boat. No matter how you use it, the DF2200PX is a piece of equipment you should never leave the dock without.

SideScan Fish Detecting Sonar

There is no guessing where the drop-offs are or where the fish are hiding, when you use the DF2200PX. The press of a button allows you to scan an area for drop-offs, ledges, or hiding fish within 199 Feet. Scan under weeds, lily pads, or even docks for trophy lunkers, before making your cast.

Comments about Aqua Hawk Eye Handheld Digital Sonar System, DF2200PX:

The product is great for many of the dives we do. If I am doing a wall dive, I use it to surface swim to the depth I want, then drop right onto the wall. I've loaned it to friends to find the walls at many of our dives... In addition, great for divesite mapping. Two person endeavor, but not tide dependant. Shore buddy uses range finder on you as you surface kick calling out depths.

As a side note, it does float... so expect it to bump into things as you dive, a lanyard is the best choice. It's not for every dive, but wall dives and mapping are great options. I did use it in some low vis pacific northwest diving (1-2ft). It worked great for locating my lost diving buddy (7 feet away).

Comments about Aqua Hawk Eye Handheld Digital Sonar System, DF2200PX:

This is the first hand held sonar I have ever had. Not overly impressed. When you read the description it sounds like it does all kinds of cool stuff.

Reality: You push the button and it shows temp and depth (accurately as far as I could tell) and maybe a little fish symbol.

I would recommend this to a friend if all they need is what is above, but I am sure there are better products out there.

Comments about Aqua Hawk Eye Handheld Digital Sonar System, DF2200PX:

The first one of these I owned worked for about 20 minutes on my first beach dive. It leaked through the switch mechanism, straight onto the circuit board. Norcross Marine support recommended I upgrade to the latest model, which had a better seal around the front of the unit (but the seal around the front of the unit didn't have a problem). I upgraded, the newer unit lasted about 6 minutes in the swimming pool, before it also leaked onto the circuit board through the switch mechanism (they didn't change the switch mechanism's seal on the newer version).

Handheld sonars from other manufacturers use switches that do not penetrate the case and cause potential points of failure. The Vexilar LPS-1 that I currently own doesn't have as many features. But it doesn't leak when you turn it on and off. I have used it on about 20 dives, the label wore off but it continues to work fine.

I highly recommend handheld sonars, just not this one. In 10 foot or less vis, it is very cool to drop right on target after swimming for hundreds of yards to get there.
