DESCRIPTION
SAFE... CLEAN .. Natural air from any scuba regulator,
Apollo announces the new bio-filter for all scuba diving regulators. The bio-filter assures clean, moisturized air for comfortable and safe diving. Scuba divers anywhere can enjoy the benefits of the bio-filter by simply fitting it to any existing regulator.

Many divers are not aware of the difference between compressed tank air and air they breath on the surface. Compressed tank air is dry (0.1% humidity) this can cause severe discomfort, dry throat, or 'cotton mouth.' More seriously, dry air dries lung tissue and increases the risk of decompression sickness.
Other benefits include easier pressure equalization, reduces post dive headaches, increases bottom time, reduces general fatigue.

For scuba diving it is granted that the supply of ample air comes first, but no less crucial is the quality of air. Moisturized air is essential to pulmonary respiration and for comfortable, safer scuba diving. The bio-filter eliminates the problem associated with dry tank air by replacing 30-70% humidity back into the air a diver breathes. It also filters out trace particles of dust, rust, and odor.

The bio-filter is perfect for all scuba divers seeking clean, moisturized air - this includes the adventurous travel diver diving in locations where purity with air fills is questionable or the weekend diver who seeks comfort and additional safety.

Great product. I used to feel drained after 3 dives/day. Now after 4 dives/day I still feel like I could easily go for more. No more headaches or cotton mouth when using this. I recommend this to all. I've had it down to 120+ feet. Awesome product for recreational use.

I wasn't blown away by this product in the way that I thought I would be (having read previous reviews). It helps with dry mouth, but it doesn't eliminate it. (The idea of a carbon filter for impure air is, let's face it, a gimmick. No one seriously believes you are going to rely on that filter if you got an impure fill.)

Balanced against that, you put an additional fail point into your breathing system.

Related to that, after installing it, you have quite a bulky first stage - I couldn't actually close my regulator bag, so I have to store my regulatory disassembled (which I dislike intensely).

We'll see, but it would shock me if I take it off my regulator after a while and go back to diving "dry".

Comments about Apollo Bio-Filter Regulator Moisture System:

I bought this item because at the time Lesurepro did not have the carbon filter alone in the proper size. The moisturizing effect is not a big deal but when I open the second stage to change the seat I found a considerable ammount of rust in the area, had to disamble the octopus to because of the same problem.
The Carbon filter alone I do recommend.

It saved my wife's life with out a doubt

Comments about Apollo Bio-Filter Regulator Moisture System:

We purchased two Bio Filters when we went out of country as an added safety precaution from tank contaminates as well as assisting my wife's asthma. Little did we know that this little filter actually saver her life from a grossly contaminated rust filled tank in the US. After a long dive getting used to her new dry suit, she experienced excessive buoyancy in her lower legs that caused her feet to become buoyant and thus, causing her to become inverted for a brief time. Upon returning to our vehicle and while disassembling her gear. I discovered that the moisture element inside of the Bio-Filter was grossly contaminated with rust and rust water poured out of her first and second stages, as well as her HP steel tank when inverted. Upon further examination, it was later determined that there was enough rusty water in her steel 80 HP tank that it filled a plastic mask box half full of rust water. There is not a single doubt that had this filter not been in place and functioning as it should, she would have taken a full lung full of atomized rust water that would have compounded her asthma and ultimately threatening her life. We will "NEVER" dive without a Bio-Filter in-line on all of our dives. Not only does it do a great job in moisturizing the dry compressed air and filter out microscopic particulates, it can also save your life.

We do recommend utilizing the filter with a small 6" LP line from the 1st stage, then a regular length LP line to your primary second stage. This removes any unnecessary stresses on the base, it also prevents another person who is unfamiliar with the filter to accidentally use it as a handle when picking up the gear, which is a risk at many dive locations.

We cannot recommend this filter enough! It is well worth the money and piece of mind that it can bring.

Comments about Apollo Bio-Filter Regulator Moisture System:

I purchased this filter/humidifier as a novelty purchase. I did so with some disbelieve, but I was blown away by its performance.

After two days of back to back diving I could see and hear other divers complaining of bad headaches, and extreme drymouth. I was rejoiced to say and brag that I had none of that. I can only attribute it to the BioFilter. It works just as advertised. It provides a subtle ammount of humidity to the air, assisting with the prevention of the cotton mouth syndrome.

The installation is straight forward and very intiutive. There´s only one drawback, this thing is big...and its an eye catcher, specially for the boat crew at the time to pull your gear out of the water...you must be very attentive and let the crew know to please not jank the gear by holding on to the 1st stage. If you don´t, you might run the risk of possibly breaking the filter; a real bommer if you come to enjoy the multiple bennefits this product will yield.

A must buy if you do any continuous diving and want to enjoy the bennefits of not having a Sahara-dry mouth at the end of the day.

I have used this on over 400 dives, at least, over the last 8 years, it does work. Just don't try to add water with air in system. :) The filter works, no way a gimmic like some say here, just look how black the filter gets on some boats. Some boats clean air some not. I can always tell by looking at the filter color. Nice not to get dry mouth.

I originally bought the micro filter without the moisturizing part but at the time they did not have the 3/8 size in stock so ended up buying the whole filter. I believe the carbon activated filter is a most for anyone traveling, there is no way of checking equipment mantainance every time in all places and I have had quite a bit of funny flavors during dives. I am not sure yet about the moiturizing don't feel major changes with or without it.
