DESCRIPTION

Whats in the box:Computer, Wrist Boot, Owner's Manual, Digital Online Class

The XR-1 Nx is as versatile underwater as it is topside. Upon starting your dive, the XR 1 NX will simply display your current depth and how long you can stay there (Dive Time Remaining). While many divers have asked for such simplicity and ease of use, you know that with all the XR-1 Nx's features, there must be more and there is. Simply press the button to see more information. Is this information important to you on a full time basis? Leave it there. Just want to check it and then move on to another display? You can do that too. It's up to you and your new XR-1 Nx. Variable ascent rate indicator will keep you safe upon ascent and slow you down progressively as you head to the surface. Safety stop timer will give you the ability to include the all important 15' (5 meters) safety stop which is recommended by all instructional agencies. AERIS Dive Computers are designed with color-coded bar graphs; gray, yellow and red. These graphs monitor nitrogen accumulation and your personal ascent rate. Pixels buildup in each of these color-coded areas to give you a quick, easy reference of these parameters. Proper monitoring of these graphs allows you to select the personal degree of conservatism you wish to build into each dive, putting you in control of your margin of safety. The XR-1 Nx acts simply as an 'Air' computer until you tell it otherwise, whether that is this weekend or 2 years down the road. Computer will let you dive nitrox and mixtures of enriched air from 21 to 50%.

The XR-1 Nx features a diver replaceable CR2450 battery. This can be a real trip-saver on board a live-aboard boat! Should you be in a tight spot between dives, the "hot-swap" feature allows you to change batteries between dives while maintaining all calculations. Other features of the computer are a calendar and clock, 330' (100 meter) operating depth, variable ascent rate, push button or water activation, altitude adjustable, wait to fly time, 12 dive on-unit log capacity, pre-dive plan sequence, dive planner and much more. The computer comes with Aeris 30 day satisfaction guarantee and a 24 month limited warranty.

My only complaint is that after your surface, the computer still cycles through the tables. I just want to see the most recent information. Maybe you can change this feature and I just didn't see it in the manual

Comments about Aeris XR1 NX Wrist Computer:

Great price, but I just dove with 2 buddies with the same unit. We all indicated quite different temperatures and ascent rates doing identical things. Temps varied by 5 degrees. This makes you a bit nervous about the other more important readings. One buddy said there was a huge variation in allowed bottom time between his and the DM's Suunto when he did a deep wreck dive. The Suunto was more conservative.

The ascent rate indicator memory is useless as, at some time in every dive, the 3 bar maximum will be exceeded. At the end of the dive, an average ascent rate readout would be better.

Having said that, it is an excellent entry level computer (or it'd non-nitrox sister model)

One of the three of us had to change a battery and had an o-ring problem and a following flood. The flood only affected the battery, not the computer as Aeris seals off the two areas pretty well. It should come with a spare O-ring or two though.

I would buy another one (in fact I already have as a previous one went overboard without a wearer).

Comments about Aeris XR1 NX Wrist Computer:

Aeris computers have long been among the most reliable available. Why in the world they decided to change the battery compartment over from a simple coin slot to its present complicated configueration is an absolute mystery to me. It practically takes a degree in engeering to change the battery. I predict a lot of flooded computers due to failure to get the compartment cap and o-ring properly installed, which probably means this particular battery cover will be short lived. Let's hope so.
