The primary Shockwave LED light is pretty terrific. It is bright white beam with a nice hot spot. I use this diving the black water of SC, i.e. Cooper River, ACE Basin, looking for fossils. Visability generally 2-5ft in 20ft.. Visabilty as good as your light past 30 ft. because the ambiant light disapears. This light is almost as bright as the UK Light Cannon HID. The light has been very reliable. Batteries have held up well. Approximately 9hrs on this set and I probably won't change them for another 2 or 3 dives (approximately 3.5hrs).

The Impact XL is the best secondary light I have bought. It works very well for its size. It is very efficient with excellent battery life. I find myself using this light 80% of the time if my max planned depth is less than 30ft where the ambient light disappears. It fits perfectly in my accessory bc pocket. (Oceanic Probe LX). I don't like having to twist the bevel to turn it on and off, much like a mag light. I'd prefer an on off switch. I haven't had any problems with it but I can see where an o-ring failure would ruin this light. The constant turning of the bevel may result in more wear and tear on the o-ring.

The smallest light I really can't comment to much on. I haven't used it much. I have it tucked into my bc pocket with my safty sausage.
It's size is great for that but I can't say anything about how usefull it its.

The retractors are strong and just about perfect.
I clip the Impact to my bc so if I let it go to pick up a fossil I don't drop it and leave it behind. The coil lanyard is attatched to the Shockwave LED. I wouldn't dive with out it. It is added security on my entry into the water that I'm not going to send it to the blimy deep.

Overall, I've researched a ton of lights out there. You can get better lights out there but you are going to pay over 3 times the cost.
In my opinion, both the Shockwave LED and the Impact XL are the best bang for the buck.

For the pocket size light I used this while recently diving in the Cayman's. To turn the light on you simply turn the bezel (much like a MAG Lite). As a result, you keep turning this on and off frequently while diving during the day while looking into crevices. I experienced leakage and the saltwater corroded the reflector. I would recommend a light with an on/off switch and a reflector not subject to instant corrosion if it were to become flooded. I flushed the light with fresh water and tested the bezel for leaks and there were none which implied that the leakage was coming from the "O" ring seal (which I did lubricate prior to use). Brightness was sufficient for an LED light of this size (2 Double AA’s).

With regards to the larger light (used for night diving) the switch is difficult to operate and required the use of two hands to free it up. Intensity is good but there are other switch designs that are easier to operate. You don't want to be fussing with this light on a night dive.

With the red emergency light I was not impressed with its brightness. Sorry but if I am to be located I want something that is going to be bright for at least an hour (after that my air is gone any way).

I really can't do a comparison because this is the first light I purchased. So I can't say it is close, the same or better than the UK Clite8 or similar . But I am satified with the light output, Free Duracell Batteries (not those freebies batteries that corrode after awhile). The lanyard is nice also.

I opened the shockwave LED light fresh from the package, turned it on and it worked great. I turned it off and heard an odd click. Tried to turn back on and wouldn't illuminate. Put new batteries in and still nothing. Did some research online and found out that TONS of people are having the same problem with the shockwave light. Switch is very cheap and breaks often. Lifetime warranty is great, but I want something that will work when I need it.

Comments about Princeton Tec LED Pack:

I purchased this kit as a complete second set for a second boat I own. The first set I bought, the switch and safetly lock was broken by a friend of mine who didn't know how to use it. Princeton sent me the repair parts (to St. Thomas USVI!) for free! Unbeknownst to me, there was a crack in the main lens housing, I assume from it being dropped, or mishandled by me. It filled with saltwater and was completely destroyed by the time the sun came up and I went to clean it (I thought the batteries died underwater). [...] They have my loyalty.
