One year post purchase, I have used this light as a backup light in caves and a primary on several open water and night dives. It has a very tightly focused spot that is quite a bit whiter light than a normal halogen, and when compared side by side with a halogen SaberLite (both with new from the same package batteries), the Recoil LED appears to be brighter and projects its beam a significantly greater distance. Some of this is probably owed to light color, but the battery life is much better in the LED and the "bulb" is by its nature much longer lasting and dependable. Pelican's switch mechanism has benn 100% reliable in the 3 SaberLites I have owned(the only manufacturer that I can say this about). My halogen model (identical body and design) is 12 years old and has held up well for 400+ dives with several dives to 150+'.

The light gives a very nice and concentrated light spread. BUT I do not know why the manufacturer had put a pressure valve. Probably to release the pressure when turning the light on, but when turning it of, a under pressure becomes and the light easily leaks. Especially under the surface. Also if the valve is not maintained the valve can fasten and leak. I guess that's why it has leaked for many users including me. Because of that I will rarely use it for diving and will mostly have it as a spare and for land use. Waiting this days for the exchange light instead of the one that leaked. If used in water I will check the valve and blow with mouth inside to see if not leaking before diving. Pelican has made a good light with tech characteristics but not reliable for tech divers. For that reason they could have put a switch for turning on instead of the pressure valve. Also got the Princeton Tec, Impact XL which is less powerful but more reliable does the job and compact. 4 AA batteries are lighter then the 3C in the SibreLight. Still, I would have liked to have the SibreLight without the valve. Maybe with reliable switch too.For main light I have the UK eLED 8C which I'm very happy with.

Comments about Pelican SabreLite 2010 Recoil LED (35mm):
This is my 4th pelican and all have ended the same, at least this one worked while it was flooded. Even had it flood on me while snorkeling.

I've used this on many dives and never had a problem with leakage. The light is focused and bright. The light still has 50% brightness after 4 hours of continuous use.
I would buy this light again!

Don't forget to "close it down" before you dive deep. The light might "turn on" as a result. But if you don't tighten it down, it might leak.
