I used the case as checked baggage with some "sensitive" gear. The foam offered an excellent buffer and the hard sided case was impenetrable.

Don't get me wrong. It is not as though I haven't tried over the past five years. I have checked this piece and I have carried on planes. I have dragged this thing through airports, hotels, and parking lots here and abroad, including up and down stairs and over curbs. I have nothing to show for my efforts but a few scuffs on the exterior.

The wheels and handles are as good as new. Since there are no cloth seams, no tears or rips (the type you see at the baggage claims with the dirty socks hanging out of the bag). It is ugly, heavy and so far as I can tell indestructible. It fits nicely in the overhead compartments (and it is a bit heavy than fabric luggage).

This is as good as it gets.

I use it to send my tools via checked luggage, even those ape baggage handlers bust this case when it's loaded to the 50lb max.

This case was a gift to my wife for her photography business. She plans on storing 2 SLR bodies, 3 lenses, and a flash. We began plucking out the foam and contouring around the equipment. After plucking we fit a lens and it was great. Everything was snug and secure. When we pulled out the lens we noticed tiny fibers stuck to the body of the lens. It was the glue residue and tiny pieces of foam from the Pick 'N Pluck foam. For sensitive camera equipment, tiny pieces of foam particles and glue can be a nuisance, especially if it gets onto the sensor or internal optics. We tried pulling out the particles from the foam with masking tape, but it kept shedding. With this observation we DO NOT RECOMMEND THE FOAM FOR CAMERA EQUIPMENT. Instead of the Pick 'N Pluck foam, we will be getting the padded divider set.

The hard case works well. The fit and finish is excellent and the wheels and carrying handle are very smooth.
