Shopper I live in Michigan, i want to get this package but want to make sure that this right for me. temperature here is colder then the Caribbean. Can the mares prestige reg and the octopus withstand cold waters... and up to how many degrees? thanks
NEDANA R We dive quarries in Kentucky and I've used my mares equipment as cold as 45 degrees at 90 feet without any problems so far. I purchased the equipment in 2009 and have had no problems or complaints thus far. My old reg was causing me to us way to much air for some reason and I haven't had a problem since I bought the Mares reg. I hope this helped.
PAOLA V Fortunately, for us, most of our diving is in warm waters such as the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico (80 degrees F). We have dived at Millford quarry in VA (temp 70 degrees F) and the Mares equipment did fine. The Mares package was a great deal!
RYAN C I have used this package in lakes with water temperatures at 54 degrees and below and it has worked great.
JARED H I've used the Mares Prestige in as low as 40 degree waters and never had a problem.
KEVIN A Not sure how cold you are talking about, I have dove with this equipment in temperature of 47F, it was way too cold to even be diving in a 7mm wetsuit, I barely lasted 25 mins because it was so cold but the Mares equipment worked like a champ!
WAYNE R The regulator wheezes, the regulator hose is stiff in an uncomfortable fashion unfortunately you don't get to find this out until you actually try it and then it's too late. Leizure Pro won't do anything for you because you used it!
BRETT D I only bought the first and second stage reg. I live in south central fl, and only dive out of port canaveral and sebastion. I only use a back plate, a pair of speedos, reg, press gauge, tank, knife and 357 powerhead. No octo or BC. I'm sure that reg will be fine for colder temps.
CARL B We have used this equipment in 50 degree water and it is great.
This is the best regulator I have ever had and for the package price a steal.
ROCKY C Hey fellow diver I bought the mares regr my son weve dove water here in nebraska IN water temps low 70s no problems...good regulator-for money spent...
CAROLINA M Dear friends,
I feel happy to help any diver that need advice or assistance.
The Mares Prestige 12 is a good regulator despite it makes funny noises when you breath on the surface.
I would recommend it since I think it is a good staff.
I used it several times but never in cold waters, last time was in June in Dominican Republic where some good cave dive can be done. My computer registered 20 degrees Celsius in that dive, and that is the lowest temperature I experienced using my new Mares regulator, which performed well only finding the hose a little bit rigid.
It might be good for the customer to address the Leisure Pro review site, where a diver used this regulator in 54 F water temperature.
I hope the shopper find my comments useful.
Thanks Leisure Pro team.
