Simon L Hi there,
Is this knife has a jacket to protect the razor edge? Is it sharpened with regular oil stone?
ROGER H The sharp edge is within the "hook". I use a triangular ceramic stone to "finish the edge as needed. The product is stainless and retains an edge relatively well, doesn't damage as easily as most knifes since it is only sharpened inside the hook. My primary use is removal of fishing lines and nets scrape from the environment. Does a credible job on monofilament and woven lines and nets, kevlar is a bit tougher but I've been able to cut them as well. Hope this helps.
DEBRA S Yes the sheath will protect the blade from cutting you or anything else until you are ready to use it. It is primarily a line cutter,
You may sharpen it with a regular stone but the blade is titanium so it is a softer metal than steel. Take about four passes on each side of the blade with the stone and check it. Since it is a softer metal it will not get as sharp as a steel blade either.
I have had this product for quite a while and it works very well for its intended purpose. The best part about titanium is that it is impervious to saltwater and will not rust. Keep it away from chlorine though! Safe diving!
MICHAEL M It has the case as shown only, I stick the knife in the front pocket on my weight belt and havent had any problems. To sharpen I use a diamond file for serrated edges.
KAREN B The knife comes with the sheath to attach to BC and protect the knife.
This is not the type of knife that needs to be sharpened. It is designed to be an emergency knife.. not used on a regular basis.
