Paul O Would you use grease like this on the o-rings of your low and high pressure hoses that connect to your 1st stage reg? Or do they need anything at all?
SHERMAN C I use it on all o rings, without it you take the chance of damaging the o ring on the dry sharp threads, especially if you are replacing it. When in doubt use it, it is nitrox compatible and also helps keep your o rings from drying out and splitting. Hope this helps.
EUGENE L Yes, you should be lubing all the o-rings on your breathing rig on a somewhat regular basis, and doing visual inspections of each prior each dive. The good thing about this particular lube is that it is suitable for breathing mixtures up to 100% O2 (used for rapid deco). Other lubes are suitable for gas mixtures only up to 40% O2, or sometimes even less.
JASON C yes, a small amount to just make the O ring 'shiny black' will always make the O ring last longer and seal better. If you are just breathing air out of your tank and not an enriched oxygen, you dont really need the expensive oxygen grease, you can get a cheaper grade which is just as safe to dive with, but if you are breathing nitrox, heliox or straight o2, you'll need oxygen grease specifically for that-
if you do not use an oxygen grade grease to lubricate O rings (especially the high pressure) they will blow out with risk of damage to equipment and/or cause health issues under pressure.
DANIEL L Yes as long as long as you are diving with enriched air (Nitrox) or using pure Oxygen. Lightly coat rings.
BRIAN G It depends on the percentage of o2 that you are using. Most tech divers lubricate their first stage regs completely with o2 lube in order to prevent any problems. Of course they are also using nitrox levels up to 75% oxygen so the need to be extra safe is very important. If you dive with only 32% nitrox or less then oxygen grease like this is really not necessary but anything over would be a good reason to buy a tube.
DEMIAN V i use this grease to lubricate all parts and connection in my diving gear.
no different low or high pressure.
DARRELL B That's what used it for. Just apply a very small amount though.
ERIC C I use lube on all my orings. I like this stuff because i use high oxygen content frequently.
