Awesome.

By Josh

I loved this PDC from the second I synced it up with the wireless adapter and prep'd for my first dive with it. It was very easy to read and operate, and the free online class that came with it guides you through its functions with ease and simplicity. It seemed overwhelming at first, but the class breaks it down function by function and makes it insanely easy to understand and operate. I love being able to set up personal alarms for it based solely on my air remaining. I have separate alarm...

Excellent PDC at all levels

By Harbormon

My wife and I purchased two Oceanic VT3 dive computers with transmitters recently (November 2012) and were delighted when Oceanic, in conjunction with LP, sent us two VT4.1's instead. We couldn't be any happier for numerous reasons and would have been just as happy with the VT3, but are overjoyed with the VT4.1. This is a great PDC and we chose the Oceanic brand based on its features, the many positive reviews, both here and in online forums, coupled with LP's incredible price, which was unb...

Interface advancements that change the face of dive computers: The Oceanic VT4 1 takes yet another step forward in continuing a reputation of ruggedness and reliability while making advancements in Personal Dive Computer (PDC) usability. The VT 4.1 Dive Computer out-of-the-box ready for your dive today and ready to follow you onto more advanced dives in the future. With Oceanic's wireless transmitter, the diver can also monitor gas pressure from up to four independent cylinders ideal for both technical diving applications and recreational diving.

The choice is yours:
The debate about a dive computer's algorithm is over. It is no longer about whether an algorithm is right-or-wrong, liberal-or-conservative. It is simply about what is right-for-you-at-the-current moment. You no longer have to choose a brand-based on your decompression algorithm preference. Oceanic's given you the choice depending on who you're diving with or the kind of diving that you're doing, with the first dive computer powered by our exclusive dual algorithm.

The Oceanic VT 4.1 is an advanced all-in-one dive computer featuring Oceanic's exclusive dual algorithm, wireless air-integration, digital compass, remote buddy pressure check, and so much more. The VT 4.1 Computer is powered by Oceanic's Exclusive Dual Algorithm - Your choice between Pelagic DSAT (Spencer/Powell data basis) or Pelagic Z+ (Buhlmann ZHL-16C data basis). This wireless air integrated technology system with advanced 3-axis digital compass with full tilt compensation and can switch between 4-independent transmitters, with up to 4-nitrox mixes to 100% O2 will meet all your today diving needs and those in the future!

When diving the computer has deep stop with countdown timer, gauge mode, norm (Air/Nitrox) gauge, and free dive modes of operation. The computer is water or push button activated. Want to customize your own-safety-factors? The VT 4.1 Computer provides personal conservative factor adjustments (PCFA). Each level of the PCFA provides no decompression limits for the next dive +3,000' (920 meter) altitude adjustment.

The computers altitude algorithm is based on the NOAA model and provides altitude adjustability from 2,000' to 14,000' (610 to 4,200 meters). The computer has an operational (NORM/Free Dive Modes) depth of 330' (200 meters) with a (Gauge Mode) depth of 399' (120 meters). When in low light conditions the VT 4.1 is equipped with Ocean-Glo backlight with an adjustable duration function. The computer is powered by a CR2450 lithium battery that can provide up to 300-dive hours. The computer allows battery hot swap to retain-dive-data along with a graphic low battery indicator and Smart-Glo backlight sensor. With the transmitter you will be able to take advantage of all the wire-less air integrated functions of the VT 4.1 Computer. When coupled with the transmitter the VT 4.1 provides the following unique features.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Marc B  Hello, I have 2 questions : - could someone confirm that the sampling rate can be set to 1s in freediving mode (not indicated in the manual but indicated in the oceanic website specs) ? - Is it possible to manually set the water type to freshwater at any altitude (the manual says that water type is automatically set to fresh beyond an altitude of 3000 feet but says nothing about how to set it to fresh water below 3000 feet) ? Thank you very much for your answers. Marc.
B C  Sampling rate in freedive mode 1s and Freshwater at any altitude confirmed.
Robin W  How do you get out of the compass mode?
CADE H  Hold select button down. Button on your right when the computer is facing you and the top is up.
EDGAR HERNAN R  Press the right side button for 2 seconds or just wait about 2 minutes without operation. Hope it helps.
RAYMOND L  It's not very easy or user friendly. You have to complete the setup process of the compass. I'm sorry to say that more than once I've gotten in a hurry before a dive and slipped in to compass mode. All you can do is complete the setup. Take your time, you'll get it.
Michael W  Hold down the select button on the side of the computer for 2+ seconds. This will take you out of compass mode and back to the main dive screen.
CARLOS N  I don't own it any more. So I can't remember Contact Oceanic Customer service very helpful people.Regards
Robin W  How do you get out of the computer mode?
KYLE D  Computer starts in surface mode, automatically goes into dive mode when beginning descent, then returns to surface mode automatically ten minutes after end of last dive. If you restart the dive within that ten minutes, the logic goes back into continuing that previous dive. Surface functions are locked out until the end of the initial ten minute surface interval.
WAYNE K  As I recall, you must wait 24 hours.
Shopper  Can this dive computer be used with MAC software or is this strictly a PC compatible unit for the download kit?
DMITRIY M  from Oceanic web site it does not look like they have MAC support, but feel free to ask them directly. oceanic worldwide support on the internet
ALEX B  As far as I know is only PC compatible. But you should research the market for another alternative. I bought a couple of them thinking that was a great item and so far is full of disappointments. Not only the computer keep breaking and having software issues, also their customer service is getting worse. Good Luck!
MICHAEL C  The software that comes with the VT4 is PC only. I believe there is third party software available that will work though.
JUSTIN P  yes, download macdive software, plug USB into MAC and VT4.1 and import dives. works great.
JOE S  Mac Dive is your best option. It is compatible with most dive computers and is somewhat inexpensive. I use it personally for downloading my dives. It will work with the VT 4.1. AUP will be launching it's Mac Software very soon though. So if you can wait a few more months it will be here.
GABRIEL D  To my knowledge, it is strictly PC software. I won't run on the Mac.
MIYUKI S  There is no official support for Mac. You will need to run Windows on Bootcamp or use MacDive. http://www.mac-dive.com
SETH P  Directly, Oceanics software is PC only. However, there are 3rd party applications, such as "Mac Dive," that will interface with and download you log profiles. I personally use Mac Dive to download and sync my dive profiles into my iPhone and iPad "Dive Log" app.
LISA T  I had to return mine because at that time Oceanic did not support apple. I called oceanic about this and they said they were in the process of getting mac compatable, target for this past spring. I do not know if they did. I would call oceanic and ask if they now have the software to make mac compatable.
MICHAEL M  I have not tried to download any data from VT-4 to my Mac Computer. However, Oceanic headquarters ( 1-800-435-3483 in Calif ) should be able to answer your question. Some Comments. 1. My rebate check arrived after 5 months of working with Oceranic and a third party that handles that end of the business. 2. VT 4 screen is somewhat easy to read but numbers are not as large as my previous Oceanic Pro Plus consul. 3. Overall, I am happy with VT 4
ROBERT G  You can buy separate software for a Mac but it won't be from Oceanic. The included software is not compatible.
Shopper  Hi, I recently ordered this product and my dive buddy has the VT3. Does this product have the Buddy Pressure Check as well and will it work with the VT3? Thanks!
CARLOS N  Depends on serial number call oceanic they will know
JUSTIN S  It doesn't. It infringed on some copyrights of another brand and does not have the buddy check.
VINCE G  The one I bought was VT4.0. It has the buddy pressure check. From what I read online in different forums, my understanding is that in further versions of the software (4.1) Oceanic removed the buddy pressure check, possibly because it was not working that great - you had to be very close to your buddy tank to transmit buddy pressure. I don't know if VT3 and VT4 are compatible. This aside, I love my VT4. I bet you will too. Hope this helps a little.
PHILLIP G  As far as I know the 4.1 version removed the buddy check feature for trademark reasons. It does still support multiple transmitters so you should be able to monitor it still. The range is pretty limited though, maybe 3ft from transmitter so you'd have to swim over your buddy and hold your arm out to get a reading. I'm pretty sure the vt3 transmitters are compatible. I love my vt4 and have been completely satisfied with it.
EMMETT T  yes it does. don't know if it will work with Vt3. Sorry
MARY B  If the transmitter's are compatible then yes you can check their air pressure.
