Questions about this item:
Daniel M I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one? And why is this limited edition OC1 less expensive than the actual OC1 itself?
Daniel M thanks guys! your comments are much appreciated. now i'm ready to click 'buy' and be welcomed into the OC1 club!
WESLEY C I bought this because I was going into tech diving and I can use 3 gases it had all the features I was looking for. It takes a bit of practice to get used to the functions but once you use it a time or two its very simple. the compass and way points help. I do not know why it would be cheaper other then try to get rid of them. It was so nice when I saw my 1st one I bought another one so I could have one that was not used. It is a really nice watch/computer.
The price has come down since I bought mine. I might get another one now
ARTHUR M I chose the OC-1 because it is functional and easy to read. I like the idea that it is as much as watch as a full function dive computer. I have used it on air and nitrox dives. It did seem a bit complicated to use, until I made a couple of dives with it. Now it is as easy as breathing.
The limited edition was not the cheapest of the styles when I purchased mine. Though given a choice, I still like the black titanium over the other standard colors. I would assume that people like the standard version better based on looks rather than function. Again, just having an OC-1 is nice, regardless of which one you choose.
Also, you get a nice coffee table book and wood box with the Pioneer, does not make it a better watch / computer, but it is a nice book.
JOHN H Personally, I liked the look of the Limited Edition more than the regular OC1. I believe the functionality is the same. As for the price, the Limited Edition is on sale. If you take a look at the Oceanic web site you will note it is no longer on sale and quite a bit more expensive than the OC1. I only have 5 or 6 dives using the Limted Edition but so far I would highly recommend it. The only down side is the learning curve. It takes a little time to get used to the button sequences to access the different menus but this in only minor. The air integration has been flawless and never lost the signal.
Kurt W Given that this watch has a titanium wrist band, how straightforward is it to adjust for different wetsuits? It seems that if you adjust it to fit, say, a 5mm, you then wouldn't be able to wear it normally without it dangling loosely around your wrist. Thanks!
ANTONIO JOSE R the clock has two straps over rubber, other than that of titanium, all are changeable by the owner as it brings its toolkit to do, I use titanium belt during the week and the weekend using a rubber when I go to dive only fits my wetsuit.
GARY G Not as easily adjustable as it could be; but it was easily adjustable it would not be worth having. No one dives with different dive suits unless they are traveling. I use my OC1 in everyday life (suit and tie), cold water (43 degrees/dry suit) and warm water (85 degrees/3mm shortly) and have found no reason to make any adjustmenta to the band. If your one of those occasional divers that wears different dive suits use the rubber wrist band also provided.
JEAN M You are exactly right - i believe that it's relatively easy to remove links from the band (which I believe is actually stainless steel if i remember correctly, kind of misleading, nonetheless an amazing watch) but i swapped my metal band out for the high quality rubber adjustable strap for that reason, and i wear it almost all the time, much more comfortable and easier to adjust.
