I've been using the Spinner for about 3 years. It is attached to my Oceanic Excursion BCD. I would not recommend it be used with other brands unless you want to fabricate something to attach it to. The blade has never rusted, fallen out of the sheath, or given me any other problems. It has been used in mostly salt water and some fresh water. Wave action, currents and surface swims are common and it has not let me down.

This knife has a plastic holder which is exceptionally flimsy. The holder has a plastic lock to keep the knife in its place when not being used. I took the knife out of the holder and accidently replaced it while the lock was in the "locked" position. The knife cut through the lock and I cant lock it anymore. I admit that I broke it but I think it is quite an easy mistake to make especially when you are not looking at the holder when replacing the knife while diving. I'll brobably lose it soon. It also rusted after the first use.

Comments about Oceanic Spinner BCD Knife, Black:

I've used this knife for 10 years on nearly 800 dives, including lots of advanced tech and rebreather training. It mounts easily -- I heat a nail and melt two small holes in easy to reach weight or accessory tool pouches on either hip or middle belly, then attach with the included plastic bar set inside the pouch and the small screws poking through the fabric to the outside screwed into sheath. Easiest to use if mounted parallel to belt with the handle forward and the point toward your tank. Reach to L hip w/ R hand, or R hip w/ L hand, grab the handle with 3 fingers and thumb, press the release button with index finger and pull. When done, hold knife the same way, placing index finger on the side of the blade near tip, find the sheath with your index finger, then slide knife in. Works fine w/ heavy neoprene and drysuit dry gloves. No problems.

Comments about Oceanic Spinner BCD Knife, Black:

The Knives were purchased and mounted on type III PFD's used for Swift water rescue. The knives are just the right size, small. And they are reasonably priced. If they are lost, they are easily replaced with little cost. The only problem I had was the screws provided, allowed the bracket on back to slip off easily. To fix this I just put different screws in the bracket.

Comments about Oceanic Spinner BCD Knife, Black:

This knife is made to mount on an Oceanic BCD. Mounts easily in a convenient location. Has a lock switch that keeps it secure. Could be difficult to unlock with gloves. Doesn't seem like the lock will hold up - just a plastic toggle) but time will tell. Better then the old clip style which the knife would pop out of. Comes with straps which are not really practical due to the small size of the knife. Nice back up but would not have purchased it I did not own a Oceanic BCDS which has mounting grommets for the knife.

Comments about Oceanic Spinner BCD Knife, Black:

The blade and handle design are really fairly nice. However Oceanic attempted to reinvent the wheel with their knife locking tab and missed this one real bad. It's hard enough to remove the knife holding the entire assembly in your house looking at it, underwater will be a challenge and if you wear gloves forget it! Noticed they also made sure to apply this cheap plastic strip that the lock grabs to both sides. I think they want you to feel this is done so you may insert knife into sheath bi- directional, I think they did it because they know it will fail the test of time and usage., thus you have a backup side. Question my opinion? Ok, buy one, but take it from an avid Oceanic fan that this item is a must pass on!

Comments about Oceanic Spinner BCD Knife, Black:

I have owned two of these before and due to the previous sheath design(s), I lost both without relizing it. This product was on sale cheap and was redesigned so I thought I would give it one more try. The new design has a locking feature on the sheath, which makes it more secure. For a secondary knife it is small, light (IT WILL BEND/BREAK IF USED TO PRY) and funtional. THIS IS NOT A PRIMARY DIVE KNIFE.
