Questions about this item:
brian p Is this (OCNDMPP2WC) the same as your OCNDMPP2C? The lighting/color of the screen looks different between two products, and there is a $50 price difference. I understand that this one has the quick-disconnect but is that the only difference?
BP
CAROL S Dear Brian,
I can't answer your technical question about the difference between the two products, but I can highly recommend the quick-disconnect. I was on a dive trip to the Philippines until yesterday and would disconnect my computer after diving so I could take it to my room and record the information in my logbook.
JEFFREY R I see what you mean about the screens. However it seems the less expensive (C) does not have the quick connect (WC).
I have the WC and reading the screen is no problem. I LOVE this computer and would buy it again in a heartbeat. Many of the most experienced divers in my club use this computer. My only issue is getting the download cable to work. I finally gave up on it.
LESLIE D Hi BP, Yes, this is the same as mine. It appears that they (L-Pro) is selling this at a better savings to make room for the Pro-Plus 3. Great price/Great computer. That's just my take on it. Sorry I can't be of more help.
JOHNSTON W Brian,
It's exactly the same computer except for the quick disconnect.
Miyuki S The only difference is the Quick-Disconnect. Somehow the way the picture was taken makes them look different.
AL C After a dive it takes several hours before I can read the last dive and record it. My Pro Plus 2.1 is less than a year old and has only 23 dives on it. Do I have a problem with the computer or is that the way it operates?
Monica s Hello, No it should not take that long. Your log should come up immediately, You should have an Oceanic Dealer take a look for you.
Shopper Can you change settings to metric?
PAUL B Yes. The ProPlus 2 can be set for metric readouts. It is factory-set to imperial, but if you go to page 29 of the Pro Plus 2 operating manual, you can read how to change the settings for metric read-out.
ROBERT B Choice of metric is during the step up screens, very easy.
MICHAEL M Yes. See the Specs page on the Oceanic web site.
LARRY P Yes you can change from Imperial to Metric. I love this gauge because it's display is big and easy to read and as we grow older this is a big help. Easy to use and because it flat it tucks nicley in my BCD chest strap. I keep it on retractable clip you can buy from Leasure Pro. Good luck.
EMMETT T yes it does. Emmett
Shopper Does it come with the USB cable or do you have to buy that seperate?
AL C To Paul B. What price did you pay for your 2.1? I have never seen one offered that comes with a cabel for the PC. The cabel is priced from $80.00 to $95.00. If It was supposed to come with a cabel I am going back to my dive shop and demand one. I paid $695.00 for my Pro Plus 2.1 w/ Compass and QD, no cabel.
JEFF M Every where that I have shopped for this computer, you have to buy the usb cable separately. ..
PAUL S The cable and software are extra!!!
MARIE C No the unit does not need a USB cable. My unit came will it's own unique cable to download the data from the unit to a pc.
ALVARO P Does NOT come with the cable, which is a bit of a a gouge at $80/$90. Although, the computer is amazing for this price. Just amazing. Good luck in your choice!
PAUL B Hi.
The answer is yes - the Oceanic Pro Plus 2 comes with a USB interface cable that permits you to download your dive data to the software that is provided. The software is written for Windows. The download is marvelous. All of your data from your dive is included: breathing gas consumption rates, nitrogen tissue loading, O-2 tissue loading, ascension rates, etc. Furthermore, the Pro Plus 2 is EASY to configure for enriched air calculations. Very siple to adjust for what ever blend of NITROX you're diving. I'm extremely satisfied with my Pro Plus 2. The drawback is if you're using a Mac or the Apple OS - it will not run the software. Furthermore, I contacted Oceanic to see if they were planning to release a Mac variant of the software - and the answer is no - they are not. Therefore, in order to run the Oceanic software, Mac users will have to use a Windows emulation program.
Shopper Which zone is this compass calibrated for ? Will it work properly in Mexico, Cuba, and North America?
LeisurePro S This is calibrated for zone 1. It will work throughout north america. Mexico and most of the Carribbean is in zone 2. The compass will still work, but you may have slightly off readings or problems with the needle bending (not as exaggerated as if you were using the compass in say, zone 5).
Shopper Is there a download interface available for a Mac?
LeisurePro S You can use the PC interface cable with a Mac, but Oceanic's OceanLog software is not compatible. You can download a Mac dive program such as JTrak or DiveLog and view your dives using that software.
