Because I am a man reading instructions are hard enough. Whoever wrote these instructions did not help anything. However, once I (with the help of others) understood the functions and how to get to them, this became a great computer. I also wish that if they are going to have the USB hookup and download to the computer, that it gives more information than it does. I woudld recommend this to anyone.

I've been using this watch for over a year now. I spent a lot of time reading the booklet (War & Peace took me less time).1) The manual is extremely complex, and not written very well, which takes me to point 2:2) You will need to grow with this watch. Unless you are a genious you will just learn features as you progress. Take it one step at a time3) The software is useless. The backup functionality is totally worthless (barely works). I've had to re-input my dive data (from backup) and then put in my notes about five times...then my dives exceeded the watch log. The computer software kept deleting itself. This includes one software update where I backed up the data (I am a computer tech so I always do this before updating software), updated the software, and the update deleted my settings. No biggy, I figured, I have the backup...didn't work. At this point I stopped with the software. I recommend you do not waste your time with this. Keep your data logged in some other fashion4) The audio alarm is barely audible without a hood, with a hood...forget it. I am a NE diver and wear a 7MM hood - I can't heard the alarm. I have perfect hearingThe watch has a lot of great features. It has teh standard features, and I trust this watch. I like that it is Nitrox ready, accepts 3 remote devices, conservative mode, great battery life, etc - but it still has many kinks when it comes to learning how to use the watch, and supplementary software. For the price it needs to be more refined. When I am ready to buy a new dive watch chances are I won't be going for the atom "3"

Comments about Oceanic Transmitter Only for DataMask, Atom, VT Pro, VT3 and OC1 Computers:
The Atom 2.0 Complete with transmitter is hard to beat, especially at this new price. It is relatively easy to use and operate. If you are diving single tank air then you cannot do much better than this. It handles nitrox, multiple dives and multiple transmitters for tracking a buddies air supply and/or another rig. I use it mostly for single tank dives over 100 feet. The complete system comes with a transmitter, computer software (pc) and scratch guard, lens cover and additional strap. The transmitter is already linked to the watch out of the box and the default settings are perfect for air dives with wet activation set "on." Therefore, you can hook it up and jump right in and it will work. However, going through the settings and functions is highly recommended.Watch is easy to use and works as advertised. The manual is methodical and walks you through the steps of setting the watch to your specifications. Backlight is powerful and I really like the check battery function. It took me about an hour to set up the time, alternate time zone, and various safety features, like turn around warning, air time remaining, safety stop depth and time, etc. I read so many complaints here that I almost didn't buy it. Lots of complaints about the manual being hard to understand. I think it is a matter of being methodical and sticking with it. It has 4 buttons and one is dedicated to a light, so you only have to master 3 buttons. After the transmitter is set-up and your tank is turned on...all you have to do is hold the top left button for a few seconds and you will have your basic dive watch with air pressure reading, then hold the top right button for a couple of seconds and it will tell you if both your watch battery and transmitter battery is good...then jump in!!! Very simple stuff. I gave this 4 stars because the computer software is a bit glitchy at times but it is fun to download dives and see it all graphed with air/time/depth stats, etc. I think you will be very pleased with this computer and it is truly great to eliminate the high pressure hose and console. It makes diving even more fun.

It is just beautiful, wet and dry. If you won't be diving Helium (Trimix) or CCR, then you have everything in the ATOM 2.0

About Me Professional
Many other comments state how poor the instructions are & how difficult this unit is to operate. I did not find this to be an issue. This is not a timex watch! It's a fairly sophisticated computer w/as many functions, settings, and programs than the most expensive units. You have to expect some level of complexity when you only have 3 buttons to manipulate all the functions (4th button is just for the light). It does take a couple of readings of the manual and some playing w/the unit, but, once you've set your paramters, the basic functions are fairly intuitive. I'm not using it for buddy checks or for air integration (w/transmitter), but as a back up to my regular computer when using various gases between dives (e.g., 21%, 32%, 36%). The one thing I don't like is not being able to change gas % on the surface (i.e. between dives) as the unit is designed for gas exchange in water. So, when you go from air to 32% on dive #2, you have to enter the water before you can change the % - kind of a hassle & why it didn't rate the fifth star. Otherwise, the unit is as good a computer as I've used. The readings and backlight are great, the auto-defaults are handy so your not having to fumble through the most common screens (in water or during S/I)- although the screens are easy to get to. It's based on the modified haldanean model so it's not too conservative (significantly more liberal than the Suunto's). The unit is fairly compact and very light. Easy battery change. It's not really "suit" worthy, but it goes well w/outdoor apparel & not overly bulky.

The product proved to be easy to use- got it one day before leaving for a trip- brought my original computer along just in case-no regrets- just wish the manual was a little more user friendly - almost impossible to follow- Performed perfectly For the money there is no better
