    I bought this snorkel for my son who is new to snorkeling. He has a tendency to lift his head when snorkeling, which dips the top of the snorkel in the water and puts him at risk of getting a big mouthful of water. This snorkel design prevents him from taking in a breath when his head is tipped back like that, so he can't inhale water.

    It also has the most comfortable snorkel mouthpiece I've ever tried.

    This is the best snorkel I've ever tried out, and I've been snorkeling/diving for 22 years.

    - Comfortable mouth piece.

    Cons
    - The snorkel clip is a bad design. Doesn't release easily and mine broke within three dives.
    - The desert dry valve sticks shut occasionally, requiring pliers to fix. When it jams shut, you can't suck any air in. I'd classify that as a safety issue.

    Bottom line: I managed to fenagle my desert dry valve to open and close freely, and am happy with it now. But after the problems I've had with it, I wouldn't buy it again. It's a shame...usually Mares makes quality stuff; the overall build quality is good, but the dry-valve design is horrible.

              works well,and does what it is intended to do, keep water out. I'm a very tough evaluator, the only negative is the yellow color, looks like brown mustard, so mine is not perfect.
