Drew R What size shaft is the min imn sten have? Trying to by a spear
VITALY B I have Mares Sten 70 cm and the original shaft is 26.5 inches(67.3 cm) including the cap at the very end of the shaft that goes into the gun. The shaft diameter is 8.00 mm.

Adrian T I'm trying to size a replacement shaft fora Mares Sten that I purchased around 15 years ago. How do the gun/shaft measurements work? The barrel length, excluding handle, is 67cm. From what's left of the barrel sticker it looks like a medi. Thanks

Shopper is there a power reducer switch?
FRANK O There is a high/low power selector switch just above the handle on the left side of the gun.
I personally do not use it as my gun is always used at full power.
UJEANIA L No. The only action besides the firing trigger is a safety catch that flips up and down to save those unentended firings.
ALAN M R Not really. You could bleed some air out of the gun - but I wouldn't.
It's a pain to put back. The gun works great as is. I still use mine all the time.

LeisurePro S No, no matter, you just want to store the shaft seperate from the gun and have it in a cool, dry place where it won't get bumped around.

LeisurePro S Yes, comes with double barb tip. If you would like a different style tip, you'll need to purchase that separately, but otherwise, all the basic parts are included.

Shopper I resently got a Mares Californian and know nothing about it. Where does the air pressure come from? Do you pump it up before each use? How do you load it? Just screw a tip on and insert it into the end of the gun? How do you arm it?
LeisurePro S The air pressure comes from pumping up the air spring in the gun, no pressure is released when the gun is fired. It is charged by pushing the spear into the gun until it locks, once you have done this it is ready to fire. I recommend pumping the gun up until you are just barely able to put the spear all the way into the gun, this is your maximum power. Also, never fire the gun with out the spear or outside of the water.
