I bought this item on 2009. I also purchased a back up regulator and a set
of gauges along with a compass. I dive regularly in the San Diego area. I am a PADI Divemaster and currently working on Master Diver. These items along with a MaresVector BC have made my dives safe, reliable and with minor maintenace. I highly recomend this item, and if you need anything additionally, look for the great packages Leisure Pro offers. They have some of the best deals out there.
DONNA K Assuming you already own gauges I don't remember needing to buy anything else for the regulator. You may need to buy a hose if its not included in the product.
CYNTHIA C It comes with a carry bag, but I found that it is too small. I love my Mares Ranger 12 regulator. I dive 2-3 times a week year round and have had no problems with this Regulator.

CHAD S When I bought my Mares Ranger 12 Regulator, I bought it as a package. It came with a octo and SPG. Most regulators are just 1st and 2nd Stage ( no AAS or SPG) Check the description and what it includes with the Mares Ranger 12 Regulator. I bought mine in Aug. 2009 and still works great!! Definitely a great buy and breaths easily. Never had any problems with it, just remember to get it checked/serviced every year and it will last a long time!

Jessica M Thanks Chad- I'm going diving in Jamaica next week and was thinking about getting in time for my trip, but perhaps I should wait and get a package deal instead. Currently all I have is basic snorkel gear. I appreciate your help :)
CHAD S Yes, I would wait to get the package deal. Plus you don't want to lug all your gear around in Jamaica. If your ever in the Keys look me up, I run a dive shop called Southernmost Diving down by Key West! Great diving there! Have fun in Jamaica!
Shopper Is this the same reg as a Rebel 12?
LeisurePro S Yes, in essence. Aside from a few design changes, the Ranger replaced the Rebel. Same first stage (MR12) and same second stage features.
Shopper Is this regulator set up for cold water usage?
LeisurePro S The Mares 12 is approved only for use down to 50F. If using it in colder water, you would have to install the cold water dry kit.

The first stage is a balanced diaphragm design in a chromed marine grade brass body with the Tri-Material Valve. The "Tri-Material" Valve is a patented innovation, conceived and created to optimize performance, safety, and reliability over time for Mares first stages. In traditional valves, these stresses, combined with extreme usage conditions, can cause premature wear of the valve with a consequent drop in reliability, performance, and safety. After careful study of the forces involved, the pressures that act on the surfaces of the valve, and the usage conditions to which it is subjected, Mares has created the new "Tri-material" valve (brass, soft polyurethane, and "heavy duty" polyurethane), found today on all Mares first stages. The exclusive MARES DFC system featured minimizes the intermediate pressure drop which occurs in all regulators during the inhalation phase.
