L W The face seems kind of small on this mask, can the face seal be cut to fit? Will the edge frail?
DIANNE P I think the image is misleading - I have this hood and dive in relatively cold water (47-57 degrees) I want something that's snug but I don't want it interfering with my mask. It doesn't. I had an Akona hood before this one that someone borrowed and never returned - they did me a huge favor! I was always battling with pockets of air trapped in the hood - even though I had poked holes in it. I haven't had the same problem with this one.
If you really wanted to cut it - I think you could get away with it.
Frankly - I'm happy with the hood and I'd buy another one if this one was borrowed and never returned :)
GARY N It has been a little over a year since I bought and used the hood but I did trim it for a diver trip and it worked fine. I haven't used it more than that so I can't say how long it would last without fraying.
MATTHEW E I wouldn't cut it. The top will sit on your mask seal and the bottom will sit just below your reg. I'd try it...I love this mask.
BRIAN T I have an over sized head and didn't feel the need to make the face opening any larger. It will stretch when you wear it and you'll be glad that it's covering more of your face if the water is cold.
Just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't cut it because it probably would separate the material.
SHEILA D I purchased this for another person who is a serious diver. I never heard any complaints about the face being small on the mask. As for cutting, I think it would destroy the seal. This would be a question for the manufacturer.
TOM T I don't know what woudl happen if you trimed it.....I suspect it would fray
MANUEL R Yes you can easily trim the hole on the mask if needed. But I think it's bigger than it looks. Don't cut it until you are sure you need to. I cut mine too much on the forehead & then I got a freeze head ache diving in cold water.
JEREMIAH J We trimmed ours and have over 25 dives on it and its doing fine.
TODD B the face hole is kind of small. i cut mine with no problem, no fraying. there are a couple of reinforcing cross stitches across two vertical seams coming up from the neck toward the chin. i cut so as to leave these stitches in place and have had no problem.
