Questions about this item:
Shopper Does the tank strap come with the BCD?
DAN V Yes. It comes with a single band tank strap. I love the BC. It's comfortable, inflates/deflates well and looks great!
TERRY E Yes, The tank strap DOES come with the BC , as do all BC these days. This model has meet all of my needs as active Divemaster and have put almost 1000 dives on it without any major incidents.
TOM H Yes. It is easily adjustable and very stable.
DEBBIE C Yes it does. This is a great BCD.
CHRISTOPHER W Yes, there is one strap that comes with the BC. The single strap does a very good job just make sure it is tight.
Thanks
Chris
SEAN F Yes it does. All BCD's should come with a tank strap. I bought this BCD 4 years ago and have used it everyday. I lost a weight pocket but they are replaceable. It is a great buy.
MIKE W yes, the tank strap comes with the BCD. I find that it holds the tank securely. I've had some that come loose after a while. This one doesnt seem to do that.
Shopper I'm a male.
I'm 173cm. 61kg. 29"waist and 33" chest.
Which size is right for me?
ANDREW S I'm male 5'8", 220lbs, 46" chest and 44" waist, my size is XL.
VICKY Y I have an XS and it fits be perfect. I am 5 ft 2 inches, 135 lbs. Hope it helps.
JOHN S i got a small. I am 140 pounds and 5 11, It works great, very comfortable, and has room if you get fatter. My 200 pound friend uses it, and loves it. It is bad ass, like james bond meets boba fett.
JONATHAN M S I'm about 225 lbs and I have the large bc. I works pretty good for me I don't know how many lbs 61 kg is but I have a 36 in waist. I would say medium or large for you. Hope this helps.
KEREM S Well I am 6 foot 195 pounds 34" waist and 46" chest I wear a large. I would say medium possibly small. You can find a store that stocks mares bc and try them on that's what I did. Good luck to you
MAX M Here are my measurements...
Neck: 16.5 Chest: 40 Pant: 31 Right Outseam: 42
Left Outseam: 42 Coat Size: 42R
Right Armseam: 17.5 Left Armseam: 17.5
Sleeve: 36 Overarm: 49 Waist: 32
I chose the Mares Dragon BC in size MEDIUM, and it fits snug. Just right for me.
Justin O Where are the pockets for the trim weights? I've looked all over mine and I can't find where you would put them
RICHARD R I had the same problem. Sorry my reply does not help.
MICHAEL C Open your BC up and lift up the lower back pad flap. You should see two plastic buckles, one on each side. Those are the pockets for your trim weights.
NICHOLAS R No, There are only the two pockets above the weight pockets. I have hung an ankle weight around the neck of my tank to adjust my trim as needed.
JEFFREY M They are on the inside of the side pieces that wrap around the front. Just behind the pockets.
AARON J Ohh, I see what you were saying :)
AARON J What do you mean; where you slide the weights into? There are two pockets on the front that are facing forward that you slide them into. See the red handles in the picture? That's where they are slid into.
SCOTT W Look in the lower back section on the inside of the BC. They're small pockets
TAGGART L Locate the plastic clips/buckles between the backplate and the outer material of the BC. They will be hidden near the bottom or lower back portion. The clips have a short strap to hold the weights into the shallow pockets connected to them.
hope that helps.
Justin O Thank you, I guessed those might be it, but I figured they were to shallow to really be pockets,
For the longest time I had thought I'D been ripped off.
nick c Should I get a Medium or a Small? My height is 72", waist 32", chest 37" and weight is about 155lbs. On the size chart I am medium on all but the waist, which is small.
TRAVIS O I have the same BC and I am the same height but 175lbs. I use the large BC which I bought when I weighed more so now it is slightly larger on me. I would suggest the medium size. Great BC though, very comfortable.
SHAWN B Medium No Doubt. I'm a 33" and the large was fitting me pretty well
160 Lbs 6' 10".
DAVID W I am a couple inches shorter than you with all the same measurements and I think my medium fits great.
nick c Thank you all for the help, medium it is then.
RACHAEL C i bought thins for my husband and he only ways 125 pounds and waist is a 29 not sure what my chest is and my height is 5-6 so i am pretty small i hope that i help you figure this out.p.s the bc is the most comfortable one i have ever had on
MIKE W I'd say it depends. I think either will fit you. I'd get the medium so you can wear more layers under it if you decide. Mine fits nicely with plenty of room for adjustment either way. I'm (male) 66" waist 32 chest 42 weight 165-170.
TOM H Based on my experience both will probably fit. However, i would recommend the medium.
SGT CHRISTOPHER G If you are doing more than casual diving do not buy Mares. My dragon started to leak after 20 dives, and as I was in Thailand at the time I was forced to buy a new BC. These do run small so the medium will be fine. Don't worry about the waist size, as a slightly loose fit at the bottom is not a bad thing.
ANDRES A I will recomend a M.
RONALD F I am 71" tall, 40" waist, and a 43" chest, and weigh in at a fluffy 235 lbs - and the XL fits me just fine, in fact a little loose in the waist during dives. I would get a medium and try it on with your wetsuit of choice - that will give you an idea of how it should fit. When putting on, stretch the cummerbund, velcro it together and snap the waist buckle, pull out the slack; and if it's still a bit loose, then the small may be the way for you to go.
I have read that that the MRS+ pockets are smaller in the small size, and people have had trouble getting weight blocks in them, though. We have tried on numerous BC's and LP will pay for shipping to exchange if it's the wrong size - so unless you have a time constraint, I would say try both on!
The Dragon is a fantastic BC - very comfortable and great buoyancy control.
Shopper I'm 6ft 4in tall bout 237lbs what size should I get?
SGT CHRISTOPHER G Do not but this BC. MARES is not built for larger people, when I bought mine I was 6' 1" app. 250 lbs. I bought the biggest size, XL, and it never fit well. Too small, also started to leak at top seam after 20 dives. I was in Thailand for 2 months, so bought another brand(SEAC SUB) and put this on away in luggage. It is still in bottom of dive gear footlocker, will get rid of it someday. Not worth the money!
ANDRES A As I am 5' 9", and 175 lbs, I have a Medium one. But when I wear it I pull all the strings almost complete. I think you should buy a Large.
RICH S I bought the size large. I am 6' 2" and 190 lbs. It fits fine and would also probably fit someone a little heavier. Sounds like a size XL would work for you. Incidentally, I love this BCD and if something happened to it I would buy another one.
Shopper Is the max load of 6kg/13lbs on the releasable weight pockets per side? Or total (i.e. both sides)?
LeisurePro S It's a 13 pound capacity on each side. 13 pounds in each the dumpable pockets + 10 pounds of trim weight = 36 pound max weight capacity (medium-XL). There is a 28 pound capacity in the XS and small.
Shopper What is the difference between this BC and the Dragon AirTrim?
LeisurePro S This BCD has an integrated octopus on the traditional inflator hose and the Dragon Air Trim has the air trim inflation, which is a new inflation technology that eliminates the corrugated hose and reduces bulk.
Shopper I am 6'1'', with a 32" waist. What size would I need?
LeisurePro S I would recommend a medium.

The comfort of a full jacket style BCD without the bulky, restrictive feeling of a traditional cut Mares' new Jacket Style Dragon Bladder design is tightly tailored to reduce drag, placing much of the air cell around the tank. The air cell is contoured to greatly minimize the feeling of the bladder underneath your arms, and gives comfortable surface flotation. All that ergonomics and still has a lift of 41.7 lbs (19.4 kg) size lg.
Innovative Protective buoyancy Cover Material: Superior combination of 3D Alutex net adds protection, abrasion resistant, with a smooth shield fabric covering. The Air Cell is made of durable (420) Cordura denier. The Mechanical Release System (MRS Plus), Mares evolution of the first mechanical weight system introduced to the market, incorporating a newly designed buckle system, one pull movement to release your weights. Ergonomically shaped pockets to form to your waist, with large, zippered opening allows for easier insertion of weights. Max load of 13 lbs (6 kg) with most sizes. Inside Velcro to section the pocket in case you don't use the full capacity.
The Dragon has two rear trim weight pockets holding up to10 lbs (4.5 kg) total. These pockets are positioned in the lower part of the BCD for better upright body efficiency at the surface, and a more streamlined profile. Back Protection System (BPS Plus) patented dual position lumbar capability. Heavily padded in either position, you can double the padding for increased lumbar support or extend the length of the padding depending on body shape for ultimate pre-dive comfort.
Comfort is paramount with the Dragon with its independent harness which allows the air bladder to inflate away from the diver eliminating the crushing effect of BCD's that have fixed harnesses. Elastic cummerbund secures the BCD in place and adjusts for wetsuit compression at depth. QAS- Quick Adjust System, change the length of the cummerbund for a better customized fit. A neoprene padded collar and internal plush lining also adds comfort.
Buoyancy control is established with the Ergo Inflator with cabled pull dump, right shoulder pull dump and two rear quick-dump/over-pressure relief valves. The Ergo is the standard inflation/deflation control unit on Mares BCD's, the Ergo inflator has been designed according to ergonomic guidelines. Intuitive to use and offers maximum grip. Smart D-ring position with large AISI 304 Stainless Steel rings, 2 bent: 2 upper and 2 lower that are positioned intelligently within your downward vision also functioning as leverage while inserting the weight pockets.
With adjustable chest strap, two angled zippered pockets, rugged carry handle, dual position hose clip for your gauges, shaped shoulder straps adapt better to alleviate pressure on the shoulders, safety whistle and lots of lift 42.7 lbs (19.4 kg) in the large size makes this one great BCD. Dragon comes in four sizes and has a 24 month limited warranty.
