BRENT C How long is the pole? (how high does the flag fly?) also what diameter is the pole? (trying to determine if it will fit into the rudder mount on the stern of my yak).
RICHARD S . The flag I have does not have a "factory" pole. I replaced it so I don't know length or diameter. I try to use something strong and flexible. Best thing I've found is a fiberglass "CB" antenna, though that may be expensive. Check Radio Shack. Currently I have a plastic pole from garden supply used for tying up beans, etc. I mount a 1/2" galvanized plumbing "floor flange" on the yak. Then I take whatever type of plastic pole I can find and glue a 1/2" brass plumbing reducer onto the end with marine epoxy. Then I can screw the flag in after I launch and remove before coming in to the beach (I launch at a dicey Norcal location where I sometimes flip the boat coming in). Definitely secure the flag to the pole with zip ties or something, otherwise it will blow off.
ROBERT B sorry but i used the pole&flag tied to a milk carton that is tied in the middle of an innertube. we drag this as we dive in freshwater lakes to follow the boating laws. the pole is 45in long and quarter of inch in diameter.
