Kristy B Would this gun be good for a first timer?
CHARLES T Its the perfect gun for first timer. It is very light accurate and easy to load. I own a charter dive boat, and have friends that have bought bigger guns to start out, and they all ended up buying this gun or one similar after seeing the ease of use. This gun is however primarily good for reef hunting, if your looking to do some open water or blue water hunting you may require something a bit bigger for the range. Best of luck

It connects the spear to the gun. It is a little longer than the effective range of the gun. It is easy to use and a great feature as when you spear a fish longer than bait he may swim away with your spear. instead you can swim to the surface with a fish and spear on the end of your line.

LeisurePro S A reel is not included, but you can fit any reel that will fit a 1" barrel to this gun. The Mares reel found here should fit.

Shopper Is this gun upgradeable for a third sling? Can a third sling equipped without modification?
LeisurePro S Not really...You would have to do some kind of modification to assure that a third sling wouldn't snap/bend your attachment points or to add a place for a third sling to attach.

If you're looking for a spear gun that's big on performance while still leaving a little green in your wallet, the Explorer is perfect. Made with a corrosion resistant hardened 17-4 stainless steel trigger and shaft, JBL742S shaft is 42" (107 cm) and is 5/16" in diameter, cast aluminum, two piece handle, and combinedwith a 1" (2.5 cm) aerospace alloy barrel for quick target acquisition and fatalresults. Guns overall length is 53" (135 cm). Same parallel power source and lowprofile design make the Explorer perfect for cagy fish when the shot window is asplit second.
The Two JBL224 slings are a unique latex formulation and dip manufacturing process that delivers radical modulus strength. The power curve increases as bands are stretched for optimum performance. Special anti-oxidants help protect against harmful U.V. rays, prolonging slings life. The slings wishbones are 302 stainless wires that provide superior strength and durability.
The JBL847 Twin Barbed Rock Point is an economical multi-purpose point. Double 2-5/8" wing span design increases holding power. Wing retainer allows for easy removal of fish. Tip is designed for medium to small fish. Gun is equipped with the JBL515L Shock Line. Sometimes we miss or we shoot a large fish and the recoil can pull the gun out of your grip, which ever the shock line will keep you in control. At the end of the day it's not the flash, but the fish count that really matters, and nothing stacks them up like the Explorer.
