For the price, this is a well-made light for a backup or to carry for day-time use when needed. The light does have a distinct hot spot.

The light does work with rechargable batteries; however, I am not seeing anything like 8-hour burn time -- more like 1.5 hours. This is not necessarily a negative for my intended use; just FYI to prospective buyers. Note that the light just goes off as it drains the batteries -- it doesn't get dimmer. You can get a bit more burn time by turning it off and then back on.

OK, this is a nice, compact light. Took it on a liveaboard dive trip. While I had it, I was pleased with its performance. It doesn't provide as much light as the bigger, pistol type lights but for daytime dives, it was excellent for peeking into dark areas.

The only problem with it is there is a small piece that the lanyard is laced through. This is screwed into the butt of the light. This piece tends to come unscrewed releasing the flashlight to the depths below. In this case, that was about 200-300 feet of water. Since I bought 2 of these, I checked my wife's light, as well. Both were clipped to our respective BCDs. Sure enough, hers was loose, too.

Advice: Good light but check the lanyard screw on a regular basis.

The light seems to be well constructed but the little pocket they send you to store it in was not. The webbing on the back of the pocket that was to be used to attach it to my BCD tore before I even made it out on my first dive. I'm glad I noticed it before I went in the water, otherwise my brand new light would be sitting at the bottom of the ocean somewhere.

One of the reasons I purchased this light is becuase it did not have the type of on/off switch where you twist the end. I'm always afraid I'm going to twist too far and flood those kinds of lights. Problem with this light is that the switch can get turn on by accident fairly easily just by pulling out or putting it in a pocket. that's not really a big deal as lond as I try to be mindful to check that it didn't get turned on.

This is one of the best light that I own for the price. It brightens up the whole area that I am looking at. All I have to say is that this is a great dive light for the price.
