WILLIAM G I use this basically to pad my torso whilst scuba diving and for a bit of core warmth retention (at least in my imagination). Not sure if it will provide noticeable bouyancy - it's pretty thin - and I would get a vest with a zipper as this is a hassle pulling off if you're by yourself.

JOEL T John, definetly warmth and slight boyancy. I use this exclusively for carribean waters and as an underlayer for colder waters. You may be cold after your first dive and may consider a level or 2 up given body fat. item is great for light travel.

LEWIS G John, to answer your question. I also have little body fat and I bought this vest and wear it under my shorty wet suit to keep warm when swimming in what other people consider warm water. Get a shorty wet suit and you will be a lot happier. It is more for someone sitting on a surfboard waiting for the next good wave.

LeisurePro S Yes. It's true that this vest is designed/marketed for surfing, but that certainly doesn't mean it can't be used for diving. "Surfing" suits are generally made from thinner, more flexible material, and often don't have arms. All these features are fine for warm water diving to give you a little boost of warmth in your core area, but they wouldn't be the best choice for mild or cold water.
