rob d I don't have these fins with me at present, but will give something that might be useful anyway.
These fins are longer then my IST rocket/ jet fins by about 3 inches. I thought they were shorter in length when I purchased them.
Even though they are a little longer, I still use them much more frequently then my old rockets. IMO they are more responsive in a wider variety of conditions. The extra length(pretty pliable) gives the ability to flutter the same as you would expect a standard long blade fin.
I'm sure you just need to know if they will fit in your suitcase, ut hope that will help some. The fins are awesome, and the heel springs are the best I have ever seen(and adjustable).

HERB H I have a sive 10.5 shoe. I bought the large. If I were you I would get the Reg because I just fit in the large with a 5mil boot.
MARK K Don, sounds like you'd need regular. These fins feature a large foot pocket designed for hard soled rock boots. I wear size 10 hard soled Fourth Element Amphibian boots and the XL are just right. I've tried them with soft soled Scubapro Delta boots and the fins were too big.
LESLIE R I would go far the large size you can always size them your self. Plus the boot will need more space.

JOHN L I wear size 10 street shoe and use an XL Holis fin. The boot is a Holis dry suit boot, which fits well. This fin also fits well with the summer wet suit as the spring heel straps compress comfortably. I'd suggest the Large fin with a size 9.
DAVID G I'm not sure why Leisure Pro e-mailed me to answer this question since my fins are 2XL, but I am a size 12 shoe and use OS System Polar Boots (size XL) with my 2XL Hollis fins. The 2XL is about 11 inches deep and about 4 1/2 inches wide.
Originally I ordered 2 sets of fins, the XL and 2XL. I kept the 2XL because it was the right fit for me, and returned the XL. My advice is, if possible, order the two sizes you think might work, try them on at home, keep the ones that fit the best and return the other pair. Just keep in mind Leisure Pro's policy on returned items that had free shipping.
....or try to get the foot pocket dimensions of the regular and XL, and make your decision that way.
JEFF B I'm a size 12, have 5MM boots and the XL fins are just right. Also my boots are normal sole, not the thick ones. It's a tough call, but I would go with the large fins. LP is great with returns just in case.
Shopper My normal shoe size is a 8.5, if i am using 5 mm bare velocity boots, which size should I purchase? Regular or XL? I have seen that these fins are sized a little big.
JOHN B I have size 10.5 feet and I wear my fins with dry suit boots and wool socks inside. I use an XXL. They fit fine. I like the fins. My experience probably won't help you size fins however.
DAVID W The pocket in these fins is very big/wide. A lot more room than in the jetfins. I have 11.5 in normal shoes and use the xl fins.
ROB W I would go with the smaller of the two. The pocket is rather large on these.
SHERMAN R I bought the Regular and use the 5mm boots in a size 10. If you go to big the spring heel straps may not hold the fin securely but conversly will keep your foot secure if you go a little smaller in size.

STEVEN H You should be fine, but it really depends on your foot and the size of the boot.
I wear a size 12 and the XL fits fine with Scubapro boot (5mm I think), but the pocket is a bit tight with a thicker cold-water boot (Pinnacle 7mm).
BRYN J I wear a size 9 1/2 shoe. With a tight fitting bootie the R was just slightly too big for me. However, the fin has a nice fitting pocket and I moved the spring on one side to the inner most pin. This worked for me with the size R and I am very happy with the fin.
KURT K I have an XL fin but I wear them with a dry suit which is a much larger boot than a neoprene boot even of the same size. I wear a size 9 and the main reason I went with the Hollis fin is because the boot cavity is larger than most other fins out there. It sounds like you would probably need a smaller size fin, but what size exactly I couldn't answer that. What I can say is the F-1's are the best fin I've owned. I've had a cheap pair, and 2 Scuba Pro fins (jet fin & twin jet) and the Hollis is by far the best. Ive never had foot fatigue or any other type of foot pain with the Hollis. Nothing against Scuba Pro as all my other equipment is mostly Scuba Pro. I guess the best answer I can give you is if your willing to take the time to get another size and maybe even another size after that to be sure you get the right one I don't think you'll be disappointed. Unfortunately that's the down side of online purchases. Hope this helps a little.
DOUGLAS B Scubapro has three differents style of boots - delta, boat sole, and molded sole. Each one is designed for certain type of diving but most divers use them for the fit. So which type of boot are you using? My guess is the boat sole boots which have a thin sole. I wore 11 - 12 molded sole boots with my F- 1 fins.The fit was good. If you are sizing the fins to the boots I recommend you order a lg and xlg fins and take advantage of LP return policy. It works. I have used it before.

I have a hard time getting my XL F1's off of my size 11 and my size 12 Pinnacle dry suit boots (not rock boots) so I ordered a pair of XXL F1's and they were way to big. I'm still diving the XL's and still having problems getting them off but they are so much better than anything else I've tried that I just deal with it.
My wife's regular size F1's fit my size 11 wet suit boots OK but they don't even come close to fitting my dry suit boots. My wife's dry suit boots and wet suit boots are mens size 8 and her regular size F1's fit both good. I hope this helps.

But, these fins, because of great spring, can be used effectively either way. I wear a size 10 rock boot. My boots go in, easy on and off, nearly all the way. If you have the ankle strength, I would stay with the XLs.
On the other hand, the regulars would be great in smaller spaces, more articulation with the exposed ankle. Depends on your style and experience.
I would recommend these to any seasoned diver as an everyday fin in size XL. Indestructible, comfortable(compared to SP jets), excellent power, drop 2-3 pounds of lead.
STEVE M I agree, they are over sized, I wish I would have returned mine but shipping to much to return from Alaska. I tried them out and you have to be careful or they slip off.

SEAN O The F-1's are a heavy fin if your traveling and wear the XXL like I do the additional weight may be an issue. However they are an extremely powerful fin and when I was diving in Utilla Honduras several of the technical divers I was diving with mentioned how much they like it and how they felt for cave/wreck diving it was a safer fin as to how the buckle's were molded into the construction providing no gaps for lines, etc to get caught on when diving.
For normal easy conditions diving might be a bit to much, for heavy conditons dry suit, or technical when your pushing a lot of weaght they are supposed to be great.
MARK M These fins are miles away from split fins. They are not quick! Split fins will run circles around them. The kick they like the best is the frog. This is not a fin you take to travel with unless you need the control. They are a technical fin. They give you lots of control!!! I can back up a length of a pool. They are very heavy and negative buoyant as well. Great for underwater photography which I use them for. They are also excellent for dry suit diving.
I love these fins!! But on trips when I need speed (sharks and other big creatures), I take a lighter conventional fin. My suggestion is stay away from the split fins in general unless you want to race down the reef with little control.
DAVID N I've been happy with the Hollis F1 fins. However I've never tried the Scubapro Jet fins. Previously I used Atomic Split Fins but had to switch for dry suit diving with size 13 Rock Boots. The Atomic XL was not large enough but the Hollis 2XL was a good fit. Compared to the Atomic, the Hollis fins are stiffer. I think the Atomic fins have better kick efficiency. However in some situations I found the Hollis advantageous in that regard such as sculling or avoiding silt-up. The Hollis has a spring strap which I like. There is an over-size loop on the spring which helps when putting on or off with a gloved hand. The Hollis fins seem like they are made well. The might be a little heavier but I never felt like that caused a problem. Hope this helps. Good luck.

JOHN L The Holis fins are great for fast speed. I use them for wreck diving. I found the Holis gives much more quick power than the longer more flexible fins. The heel spring is also a big advantage.

ROB W Hi Danny, the Hollis are nice fins, I felt they had uneven power. The down stroke was full power, but the return stroke felt very soft. You have to hold them at odd angles to get power from the return stroke.
They are well made and the heel strap are nice. I went back to the SP jet within a month.

I have used both the Hollis F-1's and Scubapro Jet Fins.... in fact I originally wanted to get the Jet Fins and they weren't available at the time.... I had some diver buddies that had both types of fins so i was able to test them both out. The Hollis Fins I believe performed just as good if not better than the Jet Fins not to mention that the Hollis Fins come with the spring heel straps which is a $30. + option on the Jets.
I wouldn't think twice about getting the Hollis F-1 fins, you wont be sorry.

It depends on the use. For recreational diving I use my scubapro jet fins. If I am doing techincal diving, I use my F1s. the F1s are a very stiff fin and unless you are a avid runner, they can tire you out pretty fast using a standard kick stroke. They both are a great fin, so it just depends on the use.

Saw your question out here. I have both the Scubapro Jets and the Hollis F1's.
The Jets are shorter, wider, heavier and stiffer than the F1's and also only have a partial foot pocket. These fins are great when frog kicking, making precision turns and back kicking. While these are pretty much a technical diving standard they are absolutely fine for your everyday reef dive.
The F1's are a little lighter, longer, thinner have a full foot pocket . They feel more like a everyday fin but are still sturdy and stiff enough to be a tech divers fin.
If you are used to split fins the Jets would be the absolute opposite end of the fin spectrum. The F1's will feel more familiar will be much more versatile than your split fins
Overall I prefer the F1, but having dove extensively in the Jets, I do wish the F1's were a tad bit wider. Hope this helps
STEVEN K Both are great fins. I own a pair of each. I personally prefer the scubapro jet fins. The F-1 seems to have a larger foot pocket and feels loose on my feet.
JOSEPH S When you hear people rant about how good this fin is and then you try it out....I've tried a lot of fins Im a tech diver. and I never found a fin that could give me the results that this fin has giving me over the years.I love everything about this fin,its light,its flexible,no fatigue.And when you need to get some where quick it does that as well. No matter what my mission is I know without a doubt that this piece of gear is the very last piece of my gear I worry about....anybody in the teams,combat or rescue will tell you this is the best hands down plain and simple, buy it !! joe S : search,rescue and recovery diver.

RYAN F I don't have the exact measurements off the top of my head, but they are pretty generous foot pockets. I can't see anyone having difficulty fitting there foot into it. On a different note they're not overly wide. These are really great fins. When the first showed up I thought the foot pocket may be a little too wide as I have a narrow foot, but the way that these are set up they'll fit just about anyone. The straps are adjustable. I am a special forces operator, and the guys on my companies dive team recommended these.

I own an extra large pair of the Hollis fins. They are 4.5 inches (internal dimension) across at the foot entry. I have size 11 feet and I wear these fins with my dry suit boots. I wear bulky wool socks in my dry suit boots. With all that, the fins fit. I like the fins and the spring heel strap. Hope this helps.

GERALD L The foot pocket is approximately 4.5" square. I gernerally wear a 13 W or EEE shoe. I've never had a problem fitting a bootie into the fin pocket, even with a running shoe style sole. Though I haven't worn them with my drysuit, given the ample opening, I don't forsee a problem.
DOUGLAS B I WEAR SEASOFT STEALTH MOLDED SOLE BOOTS SIZE XLG (12). THE WIDST PART OF THESE BOOTS IS 4.5 INCHES.TtHEY ARE APPROXIMATELY 4.5" HIGH FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP OF THE ARCH. THE HOLLIS FINS FIT WITH NO PROBLEM. I HOPE THIS HELPS.

I also wear a size ten DUI boot and use the X-large F1 fin. I reset the tension tighter for diving tropics with a 5 mm tilos sock and they still work just great. They are a little tiring on the knees if you only flutter, however they are great for any style frog kick; forward, helicopter or backwards. I love them, haven't used my bio-fins since I got the F1's.

SHERMAN R I bought the size XL for use with my 6mm boots. The spring heel strap helps to keep your foot snug but is more forgiving than the standard heel strap.

JOHN L I wear a size 10 regular shoe and have the XL Holis fins. I dive with a neoprene dry suit (not crushed) with built in boots. They fit well and work very well. Hope this helps.
Sharon A Is this photo accurate? Is this product the most current version of the fin from Hollis? The Hollis website does not show any red which made me wonder if this was an older version.
WADE W I ordered/received a pair of these dive fins in May 2011. Great product! They are identical (to the pic) except for the Hollis name/marking. Mine feature black raised lettering in the same spot (as the pic) on the fins. Also be careful about fin sizing if you wear a thick dive boot which could require larger size (although LeisurePro offerred free size exchange on mine).

I just bought a pair of these fins a few weeks ago from Leisure Pro. There is no red lettering on the fins I purchased.

Sharon A Thank you for all the info. I tried an XL pair in the pool and loved them..even tho too large. The weight is exactly what I need to keep my drysuit feel from floating. I'll stick with my ScubaPro Seawing Nova fins for warm water and use these for cold water. That leaves 4 pairs of split fins collecting dust like the rest of you! ha! Thanks again...off to order
SEAN O I bought this item in May of 2009 and it is solid black. I do not know if the newer versions have the red or not. As a side note I love these fins and some of the Cave Technical divers/instructors like them as well. The integrated clip on either side prevents/reduces the possibility of guide lines getting caught in the fins improving the safety aspect of cave/technical diving.

SHANNON Q This picture does not look like the fins I bought. The ones we bought were longer. These look shorter and wider.
I would also like to point out that I bought two pair of these fins, one for me and one for me son, because we were told they would fit well over our drysuit boots. I will say, they did fit well over the boots, however, they were unbelievably heavy. We have dove with several other divers and they also disliked these fins. All agreed they were too heavy.
We would suggest ordering (from Leisure Pro) regular fins, in giant size. They fit over our boots and are not so extremely over weight.

I have 4 or 5 pairs of nice fins and these are the ones I seem to always wear. Also easy on-off even while floating.
