Comments about Ikelite Underwater Camera Housing for Canon Powershot A1000 & A1100 IS Digital Cameras:

This case has two glaring deficiencies. First, the zoom control does not have a spring that returns the control to neutral. This means that every time you zoom you must manually reposition the zoom control to neutral. This takes a fair amount of care and dexterity. If you don't get the control exactly into the neutral position the camera will not respond to any other controls including the shutter. It can be quite frustrating under water when the shutter does not respond.

Second, the lense aperture in this case is much larger than necessary for this small point-and-shoot camer. It is so large that it blocks the flash in the entire lower right quadrant of the image. You must have the flash diffuser installed to get coverage on the entire subject. Adding insult to injury, the flash diffuser included with the camera is very flimsy and awkward to use.

My recommendatiion for point-and-shoot underwater camera housings is to purchase from the ones offered by the camera manufacturer. They are really optimized for the particular camera and are much less expensive to boot.
