I bought these shears for reef cleanup. Even when using a knife with a line cutter you can put too much tension on the line which pulls at the coral. I bought these to help reduce coral damage. They work well and are indeed stainless steel. The problem is the rivet joint, which seems to be made out of iron or some other metal that rusts easily. Without meticulous care after each dive they will rust too easy for me to worry about it.

I bought a pair of these this summer because I was on a budget. I could have spent $100 on a knife, which looks a lot cooler, but my practical side won.

I really like them and use them for just about every job I'd use normal scissors on. The blades are serrated in a way so they haven't started to dull yet. I've dove with them and after I'm done I just dry them off and apply a little oil and so far they haven't rusted.

Thankfully, I've never had to use these in a rescue setting, but I know I'm prepared for it.

The sheas are the same as you can buy anywhere for a couple dollars less so you are really buying these for the case. The case is made well with a velcro closure, plastic loop top, and a belt loop on the back. I removed the large, plastic loop to avoid entanglement - the belt loop on the rear is a better way to secure it. Either way, it is worth the extra few bucks.
