Shopper Can I shoot this gun from my boat, I have access to a private lake that has a lot of trash fish. I'll never use it under water, how will it preform with this kind of use?
LEROY S I wouldn't shoot the gun above water. I believe the manufacturer recomends underwater only. A friend of mine shot his in his driveway and almost stuck himsilf with the recoil from the spear reaching the end of the lanyaird.
JESSE F That's what bow's and arrow's are for. Not spear guns.
JOHN S You can shoot it above water, but not recommended. I haven't used mine very often and I could sell it to you for $125.00 with no tax .
John
BENJAMIN O No this gun doesn't have enough power to shoot fish from out the water it really only good under water and at a range of two feet any farther and the shaft won't penetrate
WILLIAM S It is not designed to shoot out of the water. You will damage the gun after continued firing above water.
RUSS H You could but you would reck the gun.Buy a band gun instade,a two band gun,and yes this a very good gun under water.
ROBERT E They recommend not firing out of water. The reason is that the gun needs the water to dampen the drive piston. Dry firing with break the piston.
JASON O You can NOT shoot them this way, they must be used underwater or you will ruin the air seal. The resistance provided by the water protects from this damage under the water, but "dry firing" or shooting above the surface will ruin the gun fairly quickly.
You might want to consider looking at a cross bow with fishing arrows and reel.
