35 Lbs of lift is usually more than adequate for recreational diving. Extreme cold water will require 40 Lbs of lift.

Sorry, there is no attachment point for a crotch strap on the Escape without further modification (sewing on a small attachment point on the back of the jacket for the strap to attach to).

I would recommend a large if you're doing mostly warm water diving with thin suits and an xlarge if you'll be wearing thicker wetsuits. The pocket velcros shut, but then is clipped into place in the BCD.
