I bought this mold after purchasing a mold that makes up to 5lb weights, thinking this would be better. This mold needs to go back to the drawing board. The mold surface is to rough and causes the lead to be almost impossible to release. I liked the idea of having a mold that would make a certain weight and have it marked. I guess I will keep looking for a good mold. I broke this mold as well as a 2lb mold the first time I used them. Worst molds I have ever used.

I beat the snot out of it and ended up cracking the mold to get it out,I think a smooth surface my have helped.

I bought the 2lb version. I pound it with a hammer repeatedly and the weight will not release from the mold. I melted the lead and tried again and still the lead will not come out. This mold needs to be made better.

The block weight molds are excellent! Easy to use. I made weights for my entire family. Making the weights only cost a fraction of what it would take to buy the weights at retail prices. I poured 12 weights that were 4 pounds each and they came out perfect every time! I just melted the lead using my burner from the turkey fryer and an old iron skillet that I will never use again since I melted the lead in it, but I was surprised at how easy it was to melt the lead without having to buy any extra tools.
