Questions about this item:
Shopper is there just 1 battery? it looks user replacable and how many dives before replacement is needed?
MICHAEL C As far as I know, there is just one battery. I had mine replaced after two years by a dive shop owner. My thinking was the amount of time, rather than the number of dives.
MATTHEW W There is only the installed battery with the vyper. I have not changed mine yet, however, I have two other Suunto Gekkos which are three years old. One still shows full battery the other I just changed with and Ebay kit (battery + o-ring). We only do 10-20 dives/year so YMMV. I do keep a battery change kit in my dive bag since I maintain three similar computers.
MICHAEL J R I am not sure how many batteries there are since I have not had to change them. The battery still shows good on my computer and I have had it for a couple years now, although I will admit it has not been dived as many times I would like).
ANTHONY W I bought two of these last year (one for the wife, one for me). Put about 35 dives on them last year. I just got through wringing everything out and packing - I leave for Belize tomorrow for (hopefully) Whale Shark encounters. Both of them are showing one segment down from full for battery strength (5 or 6 segments) - so 80% minimum. I don't recall how many batteries they need; but if you go to Suunto's website and look around, you can probably find online copies of the user manual - that info should be in there. I do recall they ARE user replaceable - which is HUGE. When I had to send in my D4 (wrist mount) for a new battery - the cost was ridiculous!
Jason S Whats the difference between the Vyper and the Zoop?
PHILIPPE M I don't know, I'm sorry. I have the SUUNTO Viper and It was the second Dive Computer I owned. The first one I owned turned out to be a dud.
It failed on me first time out. With the Viper I had experience renting from my local dive shop. Knowing that the dive shop dosen't rent out the cheap stuff was comforting. So when it came to choosing a replacement the choice was easy. There are two variations of the particular line of VIper; a wrist apadation as well as the combination with pressure gauge. There is also a version with a backlit display, and interface software available to log your dives. (at an additional cost).
It only matters if you need these options or not.
Like I said I've never heard of the Voop, it must be a model that preceeded the VBiper. But for for recreational diving needs the Viper will more than do the job.
WILLIAM S Gave it for a gift I use a Cobra 2
Sorry
AMIRIS A sory Jason but I'm not familiar with the Zoop. I pretty much decided between the Gekko, Vyper and the Cobra. The Gekko was pretty basic ( it's all I probably needed) and the Cobra seemed "more than I needed or was looking for", so I decided on the Vyper which gives me the option of connecting it to the computer and playing around with graphs and so forth. I'm happy with the Vyper. I hope that helps a little. You may want to ask LeisurePro the same question.
Dan E Is the Suunto Vyper Air/Nitrox 2 Computer Console Air Intergrated (cylinder pressure and estimated remaining air time) ?????
THANK YOU.........
AMIRIS A No, but it's a great computer at a good price. Defenitely recommend it.
JANICE J It is not air integrated. YOu will need a pressure gauge with it. Janice
JESSE U Nope, it is not integrated. You need the Cobra for Air Integration with the tank. For the Vyper you'll need a separate pressure gauge. I've had my Vyper about 5 years and am quite happy with it.
DOUGLAS G No, it is not. Analog gauge for tank pressure, with no remaining air time calculations. I use it as a back-up for a hoseless, air integrated wrist computer. I feel that the analog gauge is more "bullet proof" so I like to have it as a back-up to my hoseless air integrated computer. This also give redundacy in deco and gas information.
FREDERICK C No it is not. The D9 wrist computer is.
Shopper Can you download dives to a computer?
LeisurePro S Yes, you will need the download kit available here.
Shopper Is the pressure gauge available in bars?
LeisurePro S Unfortuantely, we currently only have this computer pre-assembled with a pressure gauge in PSI. If you give our customer service department a call at 888-805-3600 (or email info@leisurepro.com), they may be able to help you out with a custom order.
Shopper I would like to disconnect the computer to store it separately when not in use. Is the vyper computer permanantly connected to the gauge or would it be best to install a quick dissconnect assembly?
LeisurePro S The computer is permanantly attached--you would have to install the quick disconnect.
Shopper Will the SK7 add on compass (SKU # SQTSK7B) fit on the back of this comsole?
