Questions about this item:
Shopper This computer stores 24 dives. What happens when you take our 25th dive? will it be recorded, and the 1st dive deleted
TOM A yes, it only stores the most recent dives
PETER F Yes it maintains your most recent 25 dives. Not really an issue if you log your dives somewhat regularly.
Shopper What is the difference between this one and the which is not the "old style"? Is visual difference or is there any functional difference?
GAYLE S I don't know of any function difference between old and new style
Aeris Mantas. As a SCUBA dive computer my 2009 works as advertised.
I bought the Aeris Manta for Free or breath-hold diving. For this activity there are much better wrist dive computers. The Aeris Manta does not record free dives into memory. Therefore you must write down each dive when you surface.
Further, I have never been able to get the computer program to up-load information from the Aeris Manta dive memory. I keep getting the sample dive profiles. Also the computer program is not available for Apple, last I knew.
Good luck
BRIAN K Don't know about the new model, however the old model works great for my purpose. A computer to travel with that is very easy to read and understand, and if lost or stolen would not break the bank. I used it on a recent trip to the carribean and it worked great. I use a hoseless air intergrated DIN but it is too expensive and too difficult to adapt to non DIN tanks.
David R Just the cosmetic design but the functions are the same.
John M Is the software and cable interface compatable with Mac?
GAYLE S John,
The answer is NO. The engineer I spoke with with told me they are a small company. So, compatibility with Mac was a back-burner project.
Call Aeris before you buy one of their products. To be truthful; I never had much luck using the download program on my PC. Aeris engineering finally sent me the program on CD. I had fun looking over some great sample dives..... but never quite got my dives loaded onto my desk-top PC.
Good Luck.
Gayle
Shopper is this computer watch size or instrument size ?
BILL H It's like a large watch, but not thick like the computers that are simply converted for wrist wear. When I go on a dive trip, I wear it the whole time -- including as a watch when I'm not diving.
STEPHEN W I would say in between both. Similar size to Suunto Watches like mosquito, stinger and D2. I also have a citizen watch that is similar size. It is definitely larger then ironman style watches.
TERESA C More like a wrist watch and very user friendly.
CHARLES L This computer is between instrument (hockey puck) and watch size. It would be a little large as a watch.
JAMES S It is a bit larger than a watch but not an instrument size. I will say that when I go on a dive trip I wear this computer as a watch and do not take a regular wrist watch with me..
I hope this helps.
CAROLYN E I would say this dive computer is closer in size to a large man's watch. In fact, I wore this as a watch/dive computer on a trip to Malayasia last year. Easily a man's watch size. On the large size for a woman, especially a small woman, but not that much larger than many of the watches you currently see in many department stores.
PETER M It is watch size. Slightly larger than an average watch. I have used this extensively & think it is great for the price.
NORMAN S Fello diver, the aeris manta wrist computer is watch size and a great computer for its size. If you have any problems, the online classes will help out. Nothing but good things to say about the aeris manta wrist computer.
Norman D.Struggs
PAUL R Slightly large watch size
PETER M It is watch size. Slightly larger than an average watch. I have used mine extensively & think it is great for the price.
MICHAEL M It is kind of inbetween. More towards the instrument size though.
JULIE K The band is 1 inch and the circumference of dial is 2 inches. A very large mens sports watch.
I use as adjunct to my viper/reg set up. It is much more liberal than my viper. It is also not intuitive and the directions are very poorly written compared to the viper. That said, if I program it right (several times ended up in free dive mode with one wrong push) it has been great over the last 3 years. Biggest improvement needed is the directions for use.

Whats in the box:Computer, Owner's Manual Aeris MANTA is a full-featured nitrox capable Dive Computer perfect as a low-profile primary instrument or a back-up. The MANTA is a powerful and versatile new sports watch, ideal for divers, free divers and those that just want to look like one. A unique combination of quality, function and style, the MANTA is perfect on its own or as a backup to any of Aeris other Dive Computer models. Advanced Free Dive Mode: The Manta provides accurate depth and time with an amazing 1-second sampling rate for subsequent PC download and analysis. Dive Time is displayed in seconds and minutes. Custom audible alarms include Elapsed Dive Time, Countdown Timer and (3) Independent Max Depth Alarms. The Manta is the first Free Diving Computer to calculate and track Nitrogen Tissue Loading, allowing you to switch between SCUBA dives and Free Dives on the same dive day. Advanced Wristwatch Functions: The Manta is an advanced digital wristwatch featuring a 1/100 second chronograph (stopwatch) with lap timer, 24 hour countdown timer, daily alarm, alternate time zone with date, 12/24 hour clock, and OceanGlo Backlight. Dive Time Remaining: Dive Time Remaining provides a 'real' number in minutes, considering Nitrogen and Oxygen absorption, and automatically displays whichever allows less time. Oversized Digits: Take the AERIS challenge: When shopping for a new dive computer, compare the displays. When it comes to viewing critical information, which would you rather see at 100' (30 meters)? Audible Alarms with Flashing LED Warning Light: The Manta features a variety of system and user-customized audible alarms, alerting you to situations that pose a potential danger, or simply serve as a convenient reminder. Audible Alarm Acknowledgement: Have you ever had difficulty hearing your computer's audible alarm? Perhaps that little beep signifying a potentially dangerous situation was timed perfectly with your exhaust bubbles rushing past your ears. Or maybe it seemed insignificant as that huge manta ray soared overhead. You won't miss the Manta's audible alarm. Once triggered, the alarm will sound continuously for 10 seconds. We know what you're thinking. "That's nice, I'll definitely hear the alarm, but isn't that going to annoy me and everyone else in the water?" We thought of that too. The alarm's job is to get your attention so that you look at the computer. Once it does that, simply press the button and it will stop. You're a responsible diver and the Manta treats you that way. Air or nitrox: The Manta acts simply as an 'Air' computer until you tell it otherwise, whether that is this weekend or 2 years down the road. The MANTA has an operating range to 330' (100 meters), can onboard log 24 dives, 99 free-dives, and is powered by a user replaceable 3 volt CR2430 lithium battery.
